And just like that, Origin will have thousands of new users (ME3)

Maybe when EA manage to clean up their up act for a longer period can we consider to thrust them enough. EA will need to earn that trust again, because the small print says they only have to make the game you bought available to you for up to 2 years.
And Steam doesn't even promise 2 years. In theory Valve is perfectly within rights to remove all the games next week and You wouldn't have any ground to complain, Origin at least guarantees that You will be able to play them for 2 years...

Which is why reputation is important. EA has damaged their repution, while Valve has proven true to their PC fans since the beginning.

I was hesitant about Origin myself but I just couldn't say no to the ME3 demo. Besides I'd already downloaded it when it was the EA Download Manager because I needed it for Mass Effect 2.

So I downloaded and installed Origin. You know what happened? NOTHING! The only thing that's different now is that I'm all set up to play Mass Effect 3.

Seriously, people are just looking for an excuse to ***** at this point.

Here's how I see it. I buy ME3 on Amazon because depriving EA of extra money is always nice. Install it on Origin. Play all of ME3. Return to buying fucking everything on Steam. So they got pretty much 1 game sold from all this where as Steam still gets 99% of my business.

On my PS3 hard disk? No. That would be silly.

And this is why I insisted on playing Mass Effect on my PS3. :p

Problem: I still hate the popular DRM masquerading as a place to buy games with a friends list, aka steam. Steam still has issues, still doesn't do 100% of what it should.

Origin will be no different.

In fact, the only reason I have steam is it's sales. Still hate it.

You're a little late, OP

And like other people said, using Origins is the same as using Steam. Well, besides Valve being a more consumer-friendly company than EA, anyway.
Well, that and Steam has a much bigger selection and much, much better prices. It also have years of experience over Origin, and is much more stable.

The EULA is the same as Steam's, but relying on hearsay is much more fun and leads to more people blindly hating something without actually knowing the truth.
It's the internet and this is a gaming website, did people expect anything else?

Wanna know a reason I'm not getting Origin. It's a big one, and a very vital one for EA:

I have no other reason to get it, outside of ME3.

There's nothing in the store that I want. There's no option to import all of my Steam games. There's no reason I should have another gaming service on my computer.

As of right now, the only purpose it's serving is a setback to when I'm picking up ME3. I'm waiting out for a release of all the content, downloadable or otherwise, at a manageable price.

Three solutions to the Origin hate:

1. It's a FREE PROGRAM, no different than Steam, and has NO ACTUAL INVASIVE PROGRAMS. The EULA was changed to remove that clause, and now it is no different than Steam's. Seriously, people, grow the fuck up and do research before you complain.
This is useful information. I just checked apparently that was changed as far back as August, I only found out now due to people drowning out any real and relevant news. ME3 here I come. Another question. I read you can transfer your steam copies to Origin. Does that include all DLC for ME1 and 2? Can I use my save files from those games too?
I don't know about ME1, because steam refuses to show a key for me when I look under it, same with dead space 1. But as for ME2 and DeadSpace 2, and a few other EA games Origin took the keys, which actually surprises me considering how you could easily just give your steam keys to a friend and they could have a free copy on origin.

I hate origin not for the EULA but the crappy software that it is. I can't believe EA would force PC users to use such buggy crap. I wouldn't mind if it worked. I downloaded origin, pre-ordered ME3, Origin worked fine. Restarted my computer, and origin no longer starts. It just loads for a while then nothing.

I got in touch with EA support and they said to uninstall origin and all games which is unacceptable enough (I'm on capped internet). But even then, after re installing it, it didn't work. I have never had this problem with Steam. I want my money back for ME3 since it won't even run. I'll just buy a physical copy next time.

Looking around online I have seen a multitude of users having issues ranging from the same as mine, to it lagging their computer to a crawl, to completely crashing their pc.

I will definitely not be using Origin again.

I've said it 50 times and I'll say it again, this is no different than how Steam first got people to start using it.

Difference being Half Life 2 was single player only. Oh and their servers exploded and nobody could play the game, because they couldn't register their single player only game.

But it's only evil if Origin does it.
Problems are expected when you are the first one to do something. Everyone who comes after should have learned from your mistakes. That is why Steam gets away with server problems they had when they started but Origin doesn't.

It's the same with most services. MMOs are another example. Everquest and WoW were the first big boys on the block. They went through the growing pains. Everyone who comes after should know better.

It is better to learn from the mistakes of others than to repeat the mistakes yourself, yet few people actually do so.

1. PS3 or 360 version will be better. It's just a fact that the mass effect pc games are basically shitty console ports.
2. Origin is not that bad, my only real issue with it is that EA seems to not want my money anymore by pulling from steam
3. I LIKE steam because I know a lot of people who use it, and it's a very convenient way to hold on to digital copies of games.

Either way, the console version will be better, Origin will continue to fail because of their lateness to the party and their lack of content, and I, like many others, will continue to buy from steam because it is much more convenient...

And I really hate all this "STEAM IS EVIL!" BS, I understand not liking their forcing you to use it for certain things, but it's a really nice platform.

OH, and if someone hasn't mentioned it yet... first world problems *facepalm*

Have EA stopped blocking Origin users out of their games, over forum related reasons yet?
That's another reason why we should not support Origin.
Of all the things to complain about, you chose this?

Solution: Don't be an asshole on the forums. Better yet, don't visit the useless Origin/EA forums in the first place.

I've never understood this whole "first world problems" thing. It stands to reason that first world people would obviously have first world problems.

Well... no, you see, it's because EA are evil. Folk can beat around the bush saying "well they're spying on us", but it's not, it's because we all know they're evil. They've got a history of being evil, we know they're going to continue being evil in the future. They're pretty much the Blackwater of this industry.

If, say, Bethesda, decided to start their own digital distribution platform, I don't think anyone would care. Heck, the only real reason GFWL didn't take off in the same way as Steam is because it was absolutely naff.

Hehe, Wow.

I had no idea having shitty business practices was enough to be called the Blackwater [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academi] of the gaming industry.

I'll always remember the day that someone compared the worlds largest and most dangerous amoral mercenary company to...releasing day 1 DLC.
Now, I know kids today don't have as long an attention span because of the wireless, but you do remember SOPA, right? It was literally just a few weeks ago.

Honestly, the more I think about it, comparing EA to Blackwater is actually more offensive to Blackwater...

(Oh wait, I've just realized, Blackwater actually make games, now, don't they? That means I'm saying that EA are better at being Blackwater in a field that Blackwater is actually in! It's true, too.)
