And just like that, Origin will have thousands of new users (ME3)

Sadly they grabbed me with BF3. But, with the Mass Effect series out for at least a while and BF3 still being king they aren't going to get much business from me anymore.

I held out until last week hoping EA would make up with Valve but its not gonna happen before launch. So aside from ME3 DLC, EA doesn't have any franchises I care enough about to put my money into Origin. And I bought hard copies of both ME3 and BF3, so they lost some Origin profits to Gamestop.

As for Origin gaining users, I don't think they will. The interface is awful. I have to deal with it for BF3 and it doesn't even link to the battlelog so it serves no purpose other than to download patches. And when I take a break from BF3, I lock Origin from my system so they can't monitor my computer. When I turn Origin on they might get their info anyway.

I don't think Mass Effect 3 will create many Origin members. It will make Origin get lots of accounts made but that doesn't constitute being a member or even a customer. Its just a crutch that will end up being wasted space on most people's harddrives.

This is useful information. I just checked apparently that was changed as far back as August, I only found out now due to people drowning out any real and relevant news. ME3 here I come. Another question. I read you can transfer your steam copies to Origin. Does that include all DLC for ME1 and 2? Can I use my save files from those games too?
It doesn't matter if you played Me 1 and 2 with Steam or without Steam or if the two games are in your Origin Library or not. You savegames are always on the same place on your computer, so they will work with Me 3.

The lack of trust between customers and EA can be valid but you are all overlooking the major issue here!

The sales page:
Origin Deals

Exclusive Offers. Exceptional Savings. Every Week.
I have been checking for maybe a month and a half looking to see if there is a reason to try origin. I have seen 3 sales Sims pre-order, sims something, and free shipping.

Do you know how many sales Impulse and Steam have had in that month and a half? minimun of 1 sale a day plus the special deals.

Expand their catalog they must, sales produce they shall, customer trust level up they must.
~~~~~ End of rational thoughts~~~~~
Now I want to fit in as much as everyone else so I shall add this to fit the general feel of all these threads:
Free shipping for a limited time on my downloadable game site? THEY WANT TO CHARGE SHIPPING FOR ME TO DOWNLOAD ME3????
On the flip side:
Origin is just like Steam only with fewer sales, fewer games, and have made games late in the series for sale only on Origin rather than starting them there. The major problem for these companies is getting people to sign up and buy that first game. After that people are more willing to buy from that source.
"Origin is the same as Steam, for privacy"
YOU ARE ALL WRONG!!!!!
I am so fed up of having to repeatedly explain thithe difference, I have created a thread.
Brilliant. :) Thanks. I guess the same applies to DLC? I got it from the Social network not steam...
Okay, that is IS.
Will someone explain to me WHY im not allowed to like EA games? Some of my favorite games ever released were produced by EA games, yet im not allowed to like them?
What exactly is it that makes EA be hates So damned much That im not allowed to mention mass effect without starting a bleedin' EA hate cult?
Yes, i don't approve of Origin, but i don't Blame EA for it. Steam is successful, so why not give a digital distribution service a shot? Its basic business.
I really don't get it.
Because disliking EA is the popular thing to do?
I mean sure, some of the decisions/business practises coming from EA aren't the most popular but god forbid a business goes ahead and actually behaves like a business. The sheer audacity of the fuckers!
You may also refer to the following mindsets for your answer:
"FUCK DA POLICE/GOVERNMENT/CORPORATIONS"
"I'm the underdog and it's up to me to rise up and spread the word about the evil faceless corporation"
I was hoping it would be alot deeper than that; but then, this IS the internet, isnt it?
Ive played EA games all my life, and ive never been crossed by them once. No DRM, No Lockouts, No "Spyware Origin" nothing.
Ah well, internet.
Lol no... i dislike EA far enough to get origin just to play ME3...
I'm just gonna pirate it, and get everything for free... Cuz it doesn't matter how much you see it EA always tries to screw the costumer up... so i'm just returning the favor..
And you really don't see the hypocrisy in that logic?
Also, enjoy your warning, owning up to being a pirate doesn't rub too well with the mods around these parts.
I couldn't care less to what people think of me. Bioware has been sending worst and worst games, this new Mass Effect 3, looks like a idiots game, only action and no real strategy. The characters look like a jersey Shore party, and the DLC hell EA so loves really bugs me.
I dislike EA, i dislike the Origin system, i dislike all and every single one of theyre policy's.
So i couldn't care less, i prefer to waste my money with good companies that make games thinking on the players and the community, then spending on incomplete games only made for profit, instead of the fans.
So yeah... gonna ILLEGALY DOWNLOAD Mass Effect 3. EA always works the extra mile to screw the player. Why should i give another extra mile to support them to do that?
You don't like the game but you're going to download it anyway?
I can't possibly seen anything wrong with that explanation ¬_¬
I played the first (wich i loved), and the second. So i'm bound to be curious of how the 3rd ends, doesn't matter how much i hate the publisher company or how the series have been led to.
I wouldn't buy it. But i will download it, only by curiosity to how everything ends. Don't need to be a genious to reach this simple conclusion.
So what you're saying, is that you're interested in the way the game turns out, but don't want to pay for it?
There are ways of finding out how the game ends without being so self-entitled, you know.
So aniway... who are you to judge others?... I dislike EA and decided not to give them MY money, and get the game for free. Going to dumb things down for you. I have a curiosity of how the story plays out in the end. But other then watching a retard playthrough from [insert unfunny commentator or youtuber here], i decided i want to play the game. But my hate for the new changes and for the company itself makes me NOT want to buy the game. Out by the sheer of possibility and curiosity i have decided to download the game for free. With this i BOTH don't give money to EA AND get to watch the ending by my own terms [and not of somebody else]. Not like i download games from every single other company.
But please go ahead and tell me how to use my money, or what to do. Cuz you know, you are the answer to everyone problems. Thinking ahead, you could be worst then me. Heck you couldv done worst things then me. So Who are you to judge others upon what they chose to do.
If you love the game so much, FINE go buy it. I'm not tellign what you should or shouldn't do. But please, don't go all Jiminy Cricket over something that doesn't concern you.
Hey look, condescension, you don't see that from pirates very often ¬_¬
Let's put one thing straight, I'm not judging you, because that's not what you do in a debate, you criticise the argument, so please, cut the bullshit attempts at criticising me.
Your argument is that you don't like EA or the way ME3 has turned out, so in some kind of twisted way, you think you're perfectly entitled to pirate it. Have I got it right so far?
So you want to play the game, but don't want to pay for it, so you want the benefits of a service without having to pay for it. Am I right so far?
Doesn't look good, does it?
I've said it 50 times and I'll say it again, this is no different than how Steam first got people to start using it.
Difference being Half Life 2 was single player only. Oh and their servers exploded and nobody could play the game, because they couldn't register their single player only game.
But it's only evil if Origin does it.
Pretty sure everyone hates Origin due to you having to give access to all of your computer files or something like that?
Except you don't, and ten seconds of research will tell you that much.
The EULA is the same as Steam's, but relying on hearsay is much more fun and leads to more people blindly hating something without actually knowing the truth.
Pretty much this. For some reason people use Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Steam etc etc and fill out all their contact info and upload pictures of themselves - but then EA makes Origin, and suddenly people are concerned about their privacy.
I never got why people keep saying this. I have a facebook that *gasp* doesn't have my contact information on it. Its a massive generalisation and doesn't count as an argument.
With that annoyance said, I think the reason people use steam but will gladly yell at EA is the numerous stories you can get of EA banning people from their games for petty things with just "ten seconds of research".
If you wanna know how the story goes you could always read the synopsis on Wikipedia or the Mass Effect wiki if you wanted even more detail.
But then that wouldn't result in you getting a game for free would it?
Well if you have the time I'd recommend both watching the movie and reading the book. Often you'll find the book is better. But no, what I was saying was that if you dislike the changes to the game then why bother playing it?
If you're so interested in how the story goes then it's possible for you to find out without playing through yourself. Please continue though, it's fun watching you trying to justify pirating the game.
Watching someone else playing it wouldn't be the same now would it?
So i couldn't care less, i prefer to waste my money with good companies that make games thinking on the players and the community, then spending on incomplete games only made for profit, instead of the fans.
So yeah... gonna ILLEGALY DOWNLOAD Mass Effect 3. EA always works the extra mile to screw the player. Why should i give another extra mile to support them to do that?
You don't like the game but you're going to download it anyway?
I can't possibly seen anything wrong with that explanation ¬_¬
I played the first (wich i loved), and the second. So i'm bound to be curious of how the 3rd ends, doesn't matter how much i hate the publisher company or how the series have been led to.
I wouldn't buy it. But i will download it, only by curiosity to how everything ends. Don't need to be a genious to reach this simple conclusion.
So what you're saying, is that you're interested in the way the game turns out, but don't want to pay for it?
There are ways of finding out how the game ends without being so self-entitled, you know.
So aniway... who are you to judge others?... I dislike EA and decided not to give them MY money, and get the game for free. Going to dumb things down for you. I have a curiosity of how the story plays out in the end. But other then watching a retard playthrough from [insert unfunny commentator or youtuber here], i decided i want to play the game. But my hate for the new changes and for the company itself makes me NOT want to buy the game. Out by the sheer of possibility and curiosity i have decided to download the game for free. With this i BOTH don't give money to EA AND get to watch the ending by my own terms [and not of somebody else]. Not like i download games from every single other company.
But please go ahead and tell me how to use my money, or what to do. Cuz you know, you are the answer to everyone problems. Thinking ahead, you could be worst then me. Heck you couldv done worst things then me. So Who are you to judge others upon what they chose to do.
If you love the game so much, FINE go buy it. I'm not tellign what you should or shouldn't do. But please, don't go all Jiminy Cricket over something that doesn't concern you.
If you wanna know how the story goes you could always read the synopsis on Wikipedia or the Mass Effect wiki if you wanted even more detail.
But then that wouldn't result in you getting a game for free would it?
That's like saying "Oh why watch the movie... go to the bookstore and watch the book of it..."
Cuz you know... that makes more sense...
Well if you have the time I'd recommend both watching the movie and reading the book. Often you'll find the book is better. But no, what I was saying was that if you dislike the changes to the game then why bother playing it?
If you're so interested in how the story goes then it's possible for you to find out without playing through yourself. Please continue though, it's fun watching you trying to justify pirating the game.
The difference was that i would be experimenting the story by my own terms, after following my playthroughs of ME1 and 2. I want to see how the events that i unfolded will play out.
Watching someone else playing it wouldn't be the same now would it?
So then buy it.
Lol no... i dislike EA far enough to get origin just to play ME3...
I'm just gonna pirate it, and get everything for free... Cuz it doesn't matter how much you see it EA always tries to screw the costumer up... so i'm just returning the favor..
And you really don't see the hypocrisy in that logic?
Also, enjoy your warning, owning up to being a pirate doesn't rub too well with the mods around these parts.
I think I need to lie down.
There's nothing ironic about it. You're just someone who wants to play something you have no right to play because you refuse to pay for it.
I'm not going to curse you. I just dislike when pirates try and hide behind some false sense of righteousness. Standing up for a cause? Disagree with the company?
Bullshit. You just wanna play something without paying for it and that's your choice, just don't try and justify it because if there's nothing stopping you from paying for the game then there's no justification in pirating it.
