sales are inconsequential to the quality of a band itself.

Never said that it does but if people buy the albums there has to be something to like. A lot of people like The Beatles because they have some good songs (I too have a few favorites).

Some people also like Britney Spears, I don't know why but then again some people don't get why I love Cannibal Corpse.

Eh, I was never really a big fan. Their music was good to me, but it was never really great. Also, I can't stand filthy dirty fucking hippies from the 60's who whine on about how their generation is going to make peace, while they sit around and binge on acid at a concert, and who have been retardedly over romantasized today. REMEMBER: There's a difference between bad and worse than other songs. I don't really like Eleanor Rigby, but it isn't bad. Same goes for Revolution and Ob-la-di Ob-la-da, as well as all the others that don't live on my iPod.

I thought it was wierd that while I'm far from a Beatles fan (don't own any of their albums or anything), Eleanor Rigby is one of my favourite Beatles tracks.

Maybe it's because I haven't heard all the other ones.

Well, like people have said, it's all a matter of opinion. Maybe your taste is just different than mine.
