What did people think about having previous Oscar winners present the nominations for the major acting categories?
I thought that it kind of caused the show to drag, but there were some entertaining introductions (I liked De Niro's humorous praise of Sean Penn). I do think it's good that the nominations are also being applauded, and not just the winners.
And maybe it was just me (I didn't expect so many people to dislike Slumdog), but whenever that movie won an award I felt really happy for them, which is kind of rare at an awards show like this. And Danny Boyle's "Tigger-style" acceptance was great.
Also have to give props to my birthplace Japan for winning 2 (what's that? 2 Oscars for Japan? Hell yes!) Academy Awards (Foreign Language Film and Best Animated Short). Maybe they didn't give the greatest speeches in the world (I wanted to shout, "Just speak freakin' Japanese already!"), but it was all good anyway.
