I went to the quoted link, and there aren't really any statistics that would tell me exactly or approximately how many human rights were breached.

Qatar doesn't have an absolute prohibition on alcohol.

I know. But it's controlled, and that's the point. Ya might aswell stay in your hotel in Qatar and watch the game.

Good for Qatar I guest bit of strange choice as I'm not sure if they have national team but whatever. Disappointed that England didn't get as organising football events is probably the pne thing this country is still good at. Guest I'll just go I and jump on the FIFA are a load of racist anti-English, money grabbing pricks bandwagon before they run out of flames and pitchforks.

so populace is a defining reason for selection? then only USA, Russia, China and India should apply everytime. Also there is not 1.5 million people in Glasgow or evern greater Glasgow, there's bearly even half of that. Also the next world cup will be in Brazil, for the second time, then to russia-europe, the qatar- asia, pretty fair i think.
Its not the defining feature ut I think population is pretty important. For starters who exactely is going to fill their grandiose stadia?

For you guy that hated the vuvuzela, beware, here in Brasil we have far worse...

I myself was cheering for USA to host it, not only are they getting better at it, but if they actualy embrace football it'll be a great thing for brasil, we export every half capable player abroad, if america would hire at the same rate brasilian team might actualy make profit, discover new talent, invest in the sport instead of giving obnoxious amounts of money to douchebags.

but i actualy liked hearing about russia, it've always wanted to go there, this is just another push toward it.

i think they chose quatar so maybe football would grow there, every world cup arabs get pounded, that sucked for iraquis, back when hussein was god over there, his sons would savagely beat the player that lost a mach.

I think your overlooking the fact that Qatar is thousands of miles away of any decent footballing nations bedies Egypt. There is not going to be hoardes of tourists.

Who is going to fill a 80k stadia for Mexico v Japan? It will look ridiculous.

Yeah, the Qatar choice kinda blindsided me when I saw it on the news this morning.

I mean, why? If England was a choice, it seems to be the much better one.

England, Netherlands-Belgium and Portugal-Spain were competing against Russia.

Japan, South Korea, Australia and the US were competing against Qatar.

I would have thought they would have picked a country that had an entire infrastructure ready for something like this, but Qatar doesn't have any place to house the people, play the games or even get food the number of people coming. They will have to build an entire country just for the world cup.
