I can't help but think of machine guns in MAG. If you every played it, you might know what I'm talking about. They have more damage than any gun other than a sniper rifle, base accuracy compares to an assault rifle, good rate of fire, and most have 100 rounds. A couple people running around with machine guns can easily take any position. And people use them a lot. Recoil can be an issue, but not nearly as much as you would think. Especially with the skills and a foregrip/bi-pod.

So, what's one weapon from any game you've played that was so disgustingly overpowered that you just wanted to stop playing?

This is more aimed at multiplayer, but singleplayer counts too.

I would say the Black Ops rendition of the AK74u did it for me, but it's not really overpowered, just really overused. Seriously, there are other guns in the game, people!

That said, the Buffalo Rifle a la Red Dead Redemption gets my vote. One hit kill, super accurate and manageable reload time (considering it's single shot only) and that's one hell of an OP'd gun in my opinion.
Hahah, oh the ak74u. In general, I tend to dislike all the assault rifles and ak74u in black ops, I think they have a bit too much damage with too much accuracy. In general, assault rifles are just a bit good. Though no one I know is clever enough to objectively discuss this and get mad when I jokingly call the ak74u a noobcannon. ^_^
you are right in a way but what is the alternative it is just kind of we either go back to WWII shooters or everyone gets smgs personally I think it works well if anything should get taken out it is grenade launchers.

Surely the AWP from Counter-strike can't have faded from collective memory that quickly, can it? I know the game is over 10 years old, but it is still played on servers all over Australia and I imagine quite a few other countries as well. Ok, it's not as bad as it once was, but seriously don't folks remember the days of having 'no-AWP' servers, and how EVERY single time you heard that weapon fired you looked around to see who had just died?
Whew! I was just about to post that.

I really shouldn't feel as old as I do now.
Your not old, im in a clan that has like 10 CSS servers. But i am too damn good with the awp sometimes, i can just noscope anything in my path, and then i get hit by 20 'HE' grenades, that do like 16 damage. Oh, there are still no Awp/auto servers all over still.

And you're not strange, sometimes a little provocative Noob-cannon-ing the enemies is what puts a smile on my face when I'm feeling down :)
Nah... I'm even more sadistic than that. I like to give 'em exactly what they want. Complain, *****, whine and rage-quit. Leave's 'em feeling all superior.

And we all know what happens to people who keep getting exactly what they want!

Muahahahahaha!

Apparently Natascha in TF2 is noob...only learnt that today after dominating a scout with it >:)

Uh, but something that makes me rage is akimbo G18's in CoD. Especially when the person is using steady aim. Oh God...

Axel and Zangief in Street Fighter 4. I actually did a tournament of AI characters to see who would win, and it came down to them. I forgot who won.

The AC-130 in any COD game that features it. Killstreaks in general can be very unbalanced if you don't work on them enough and in my opinion, neither Infinity Ward or Treyarch have.
you know. there's part of me that wants to agree with that cause it's 100 percent true.

but.. (and i know in advance its a VERY weak excuse) its a hell of a lot of fun. i mean, just knowing that my enemies are hearing some man with an arab accent shouting "ENEMY AC-130 ABOOOOVE!!!" makes me giggle.

but its strange cause whenever i use it, the entire frackin team has a missile launcher and blows me out of the sky within 15 seconds. yet whenever its my enemy, my team is too busy running into the open completely content with taking a 105 mm cannon shot to the face.

i had a point in here somewhere... OH YEAH. the whole point of killstreaks is rewarding a player and i definitely believe that black ops is more balanced than MW2. at least in BO you can't call in a nova bomb or some BS like that.

Every single class 12 year olds make in mw2, and dual automatic shotguns in black ops

Mw2 was a complete fail in every way too, with stacking killstreaks as long as my harrier doesnt get shot down and I dont get killed in the middle of using my chopper gunner, I could get a nuke every round...
two things. i never could get the dual shotguns in BO to work right. for some reason when put in my hands they are as effective as spitting on my opponent.

and i was the guy that always shot down the harriers.... sorry

THE TACTICAL NUKE IN MW2

Who would create a killstreak that automatically makes you win I mean sure you have to get 25 kills but that's not much of a challenge with chopper gunners and harriers.

Not so overpowered I wanted to stop playing, but if we're talking about multiplayer I'd have to go all the way back to the double barrel, or 'super' shotgun in Doom 2. Yes, in the game that brought us the BFG, I still think the super shotgun is more overpowered. It's a common weapon, ammunition is plentiful, it takes about the same amount of time to reload 2 shells as it takes to rack the slide on a single barrel shotgun, and if it does max damage it's stronger than a rocket launcher. Pretty much all you had to do to kill someone with it was look at them for a few seconds.

Well, Mass Effect 2 isn't multiplayer and the 920-Cain (aka Nuke Launcher) didn't make we want to stop playing. It is a major help when you play on insanity (the hardest) difficulty and the bosses have soooooooooooooooooooooooo much health... Like the Geth Armature (their version of the tank) and the Scions (also Geth, but humanoid with a big ass gun welded to them).

Just don't stand to close to the thing you are shooting at, unless you want to be fried eggs.

The super fighter(forget the name) from Ace Combat 6 the fact that all you had to do to unlock it was finish the game AND that it wasn't disabled for multiplayer make me weep.
Su-47?
I don't think so,
In Ace combat games there's usually a fictional experimental super fighter you can unlock by (normally) doing something difficult, or at least time consuming,
EG: Ace Combat 5 - you have to destroy certain non priority buildings during the course of the game to recover the parts
Ace combat zero - you have to complete every level with every Ace type, Knight, Soldier and Mercenary.
Ace Combat 6 - you have to... complete the game, once, on any difficulty.

This wouldn't be too bad but it has absurdly good speed and maneuverability easily out matching everything else in the game,
It also comes equiped with one of three super weapons, either a rail gun(not too bad high power hard to aim) a missle deflecting emp burst(again not too bad limited uses, didn't stop machine guns) and a multi lock any target missile system that if memory serves targets 12 indvidual targets, almost never misses and deals high damage,
The worst part is it could be used in multiplayer.
You're thinking of the CFA-44 Nosferatu. It was a little ridiculous. The railguns had wicked range and accuracy, and destroying large amounts of enemies was easy with the special multi-missiles. Plus, unlike other multi-missile special weapons, the Nosferatu's only took one... er... unit of ammunition per use.

The redeemer off of Unreal Tournament. It's a nuke, that one hits everything, that you can control through a first person camera so you can guide it wherever you want. Its an awesome weapon, though it is over powered, there is only sometimes one per map, so its not used to often...
considering how easy it was to take out I doubt I would call it over powered, really all you need to do is have a minigun or whip out the machine pistol and its easy to shoot down

The AC in S.T.A.L.K.E.R it's basically an ak that you can add a scope and grenade launcher but what makes it op is that it has a 2 shot burst (I know big deal) but the recoil for the first shot can be used to make a chest shot an instant head shot. It sucked away 50% of the challange.

Dogmeat in Fallout 3.

There's a bug with Broken Steel where if you find Dogmeat after installing Broken Steel, his HP scale with every level you get. At level 20, he's got 10,000 HP, which makes him pretty much indestructible. It does make random exploration a lot more fun, not having to worry about the random encounters with Albino Scorpions and Deathclaws... but I have to resist the urge to take him on missions and side-quests, because it makes the whole thing rather pointless.

Honestly, I have yet to see anyone with the dual shotguns.

I'm going with this. Once this dude joins you, it takes all fun and challenge from the game. That stupid, massive Laser Gatling Gun cuts down absolutely everything before you get a chance! Which means, no experience, which can get frustrating
