So I'm here sitting in my room listening to my housemate in the living room screaming at the tv because he died in Halo 3 again. Since I am on a massive solitaire losing streak I got to thinking instead.

When I play games, and when I die alot or reload ages before where I get up too, I get frustrated. But never frustrated to yell "Oh for fucksake!" loud enough for the neighbors to here.

I've watched my boyfriend play the same part of uncharted 2 over and over for about 20 minutes and he wasn't particularly perturbed about it. Certainly no yelling.

My brother on the otherhand is more like my housemate, will sit and swear at the TV even if it's just in single player. And it will put him in a really lousy mood. For ages.

I know that I hate playing co-op with these sort of people. No matter whose making the mistake it is they will start shouting, not necessarily at you, but it's hard to have fun with someone who is pretty angry.

So what do you think? Are you an angry gamer? Ever made your best friend cry during a co-op match? Ever had to endure a gaming session with someone that couldn't take the pressure?

I used to be, but nowadays, well aware about how badly I suck at most videogames, I just laugh whenever I die (except from when I'm playing WoW, but I tend to avoid PvP like the plague the few times I actually play)

I do, however, talk to the tv/videogame/characters/enemies when I play. A lot. People think I'm insane when they hear me playing...

Get your housemate to play Battletoads or I Wanna Be The Guy. Make sure to record it.

I only get angry with a game when the AI is blatantly cheating - or at least that's the only time I show it. When faced with ignorant, fanboyish 13-year-old 1337-spewing shite-pipes, I find it far more rewarding to stay calm and listen to them get increasingly worked up - then they'll inevitably begin making mistakes and die. A lot. Bwahahahahaha!

And I do talk to my protagonist, along with the enemies I'm fighting. And shiny things. And purple elephants. And... hello there, who are-- hey, where are you taking me?

That does sound pretty obnoxious. I get angry myself on rare occasions, but I just tend to speak my curses (or mutter, if there are other people around).

I do have to deal with one or two of those types every so often, though they've gotten better since.

One death and I get slightly upset. Two deaths and I grumble. Three deaths and I might say a quasi-curse word (crap, for instance). Four deaths and I will turn off my mic and drop an F-Bomb or two (I don't know why, I cuss all the time, including during regular conversation with my friends). Five deaths and I spill out a string of obscenities, and I might remember to turn off my mic.

I'm not, my brother sorta is. Has a hell of a short fuse compared to me, and I have seen him get into shouting matches with idiots over Xbox Live (thankfully these don't happen often). He gets frustrated if his play quality goes into a slump (2:1 K/D ratio? That sucks!) This annoys me. He can't take a damn thing seriously in real life, is sarcastic and biting as hell when people don't agree with him (step over us until we give up trying to argue with him), and has to freak out because some guy loaded out with a grenade launcher in CoD4. "He's the only guy who could kill me, and it's only because he has that stupid grenade launcher" (and then he still ends up with the highest score on both teams).

If he was such a challenge freak, you'd think he'd be more interested in the games I play (Ninja Gaiden and Touhou). But instead, he can't be bothered to practice a little. He'd rather stomp over people on Live. I wonder if I can get him to try to challenge me if I finally become The Guy.

I occasionally rage quit but I never start flipping the fuck out. The only time I swear and yell at the TV is when I play FIFA 10 with my cousin, but I'm not actually getting angry, it's just what we do.

i used to be a lot worse with my temper, ranging from "grr" to "GRAAAAAURGAAAAAAHGERGERKAHBLARG" very loudly, my friends are pretty used to my raging moments :p
I still get frustrated but i'm a lot more chill about it now, after all, it's only a game

Same here, that drives me up the wall.

OT: Sometimes if I feel like my 'groove' has been thrown off by some unforseeable event or if I just get the pressing feeling that the game is pulling unfair challenges at me, then I do get angry like crazy.

I usually laugh when something kills me like two seconds from achieving an hour long goal.

It becomes one of those great stories you tell your friends about how you got royally fucked over at the last second.

Like when in L4D2 we spent 2 hours getting to the finale on expert, after 7 tries on the finale (now we are at the 3 hour mark) I find a glitch that will help getting the achievement easier in an online forum. I try to do the glitch and all of our 360's freeze.

It was HILARIOUS!

Serves me right for succumbing to the allure of glitches.

Yes. I am a very angry gamer. I will scream "FUCK!" at the top of my lungs every time I die more than twice in a row. Back in the day I used to punch my glass TV and bruise my knuckle. The worst case of rage I had was playing CoD4 online. I went 0-13. I threw my controller on the concrete ground, (i lived in the basement) and then proceeded to punch the concrete wall as hard as I could. I split my knuckles and sprained my wrist. Swelled up real nice

The most I've ever done when angry at a game is save my progress and shut it off. Taking a break from the game for the remainder of the day always helps me out. I once had a friend who used to get angry to the point that he broke several controllers. Needless to say, he's not my friend anymore.

Thanks, I find it easier to shrug it off when playing co-op, because the thought of how pissed off my friend must be makes it funnier (yeah, that probably makes me a bad person)

I don't mind getting fucked over at the last second, what I do mind is getting fucked over by a totally incompetent (not inexperienced, incompetent) teammate, that DOES make me mad.
