I promise I'm not trolling. I have a hatred of all anime. Why? I think it's because it all looks the same, but maybe the real reason is something far more ominous. A good analogy would be cheese. Blue, swiss, american, and cheddar cheeses for example are all very different from one another but on a broader level it's still cheese. I won't lie I haven't watched much anime but just about every other person on the internet talks about it and I'm aware of the varied themes and such. Despite this I'm pretty sure it all looks roughly the same and uses the same art style that I find akin to lemon juice in my eyes and makes me FUUUUUUUUUUU. *OR* am I a natural xenophobe or something but since racism is socially unacceptable do I turn this on Japanese cartoons? (EDIT: Yeah the former sentence doesn't hold together too well but I really don't want to fix it and you probably know what I mean anyways) Does anyone else share my hate? Oh, actually, I dunno if this is anime but I liked that spider guy in Spirited Away but I was also probably 10 when I saw it.

EDIT: Oh, and creepy anime avatars really bug me out.

EDIT: I realized another reason why I might not like anime: The only people I know who watch it are my former roommate and his friends who were all total goofballs, and these weird kids at my high school who always wore Naruto headband things. So I have no friends who like it or anything. And it kinda ties into the whole "I can relate so much to Japan even though I've never been there and don't know much about the country except that anime and weirdness comes from there" thing.

So what are we suppose to say?

If you don't really like anime, but want to change your mind, then check out some recommendations. If you still don't like it, there really if nothing we can do to change your mind, so what of it?

Also your argument doesn't make sense, since everything is like that. Every racing game may have a different cars or settings, but they are still racing games. Religion may have a wide arrange of figures, but it still draws down to worshiping something, and people come in any different shapes and sizes, personalities and preferences, but at the end of the day, everyone is a person.

Also, ten bucks says that Now and Then, Here and There will make you cry, even if your the manliest man in the world.

Yeah, it all has pretty similar art. that's one of the bigger clues that it's anime. If you can't get past the art style though, i feel kinda sorry for you.

So all of anime is hated because it doesn't look like... what? There's nothing wrong with the art style, it's just a matter of preference. So what is so bad about the art style that it would make you hate it despite quality in every other area?

Watch Death Note (psychological thriller). Or Full Metal Alchemist (fantasy action/drama). By the third episode of either of them, you will be hooked.

There's many different examples of anime art styles being drastically different from each other, but I don't really care to find that picture.

Yadda, yadda, your opinion, I don't share it, blah blah blah.

I also don't really like anime, I watched thirty minutes of Spirited Away, got confused, and turned it off. Other animes don't interest me either. Not for me I suppose.

I don't care for anime ether.

I actually think anime has decent art/animation but the story and general weirdness drives me insane

I think Studio Ghibli films are the only anime I like, other than that I just find it's not for me. And while I don't hate it per se, I do hate that every other person on the internet raves about it and seems to watch it.

It also gets on my nerves that a person will ignore a western animated show or film or even a live-action one and watch something anime just BECAUSE it's anime. Which, seeing as being Japanese and animated is no guarantee for quality, frankly astounds me.

I think that anime beyond Naruto, DBZ, Death Note, and Sailor Moon tends to be an acquired taste. I love it, but I dislike half the aforementioned shows because they become so fanboy-worshiped that there's nothing but tongue-bath.

Anime never stood a chance with me due to me being exposed to Cartoon Network from an early age. To this day, I can't watch an anime without thinking "I'd rather be watching Looney Tunes right now". I loved that show...

Not to mention thinking if I ever started to like anime, I'd degenerate into one of those fans. Yeah, it's only extreme cases, but you know the ones I mean. The cushion-marrying, constant-cosplaying, dese-desu-desu ones. They make me a little bit sick.

But I think it's more the Looney Tunes thing. Seriously, have you seen it? It's simply continuous awesome.

Err... Argument? No, I don't think there was any of that, and everything you said just now agrees with the OP.

EDIT: Typo fixed.
Oh...well aren't I the dumbo here.

Sorry, I kept thinking he was bashing anime, even though he said he wasn't. Sorry, my fanboy senses were tingling.

Ahem. It's fine with me if you don't like anime. I'd rather people simply said they disliked the style, rather than making broad generalizations that it's all gratuitous sexual exploitation and blood. As long as you can respect why some people do like anime, there's no reason for you to have any reason to like it yourself. I think it's a shame you're missing out on some great shows and films because you dislike an art style, but it's all subjective in the end.

I'll also admit that a lot of anime is bad. Like, really bad. Considering 60 percent of animation in the world comes from Japan, the amount of popular anime is really small in comparison to everything else produced. For every good anime, there's about 5 that vary between 'bad' and 'meh'. It's simply how it goes with any medium, really.
I simply dislike the style. I'd probably enjoy death note if it wasn't anime.
