Dump anime, Pick up Manga!
You will thank me someday.

Take it from the fanatic.
No stars for you, without anime we would never have FLCL, when they finally did release a manga version of it, the quality was significantly less. Haibane Renmei found true beauty and art in the anime. While I will give you the Deathnote Manga (which is hands and fists above the anime) but so many represent no significant difference in quality or material.

I always say that anime based on manga series makes up for the truncated script with the magic that animation offers. That is pretty significant, and not allowing for that particular caveat suggests fanboy pretension over an actual appreciation for the art form.
Well that kinda depends on what you read then. From my experience, in 80% of the cases the manga has been better than the anime. Sometimes the anime dumps the plot skips important events, some even rewrite the story. It's personal preference I guess.

So i'm really hoping to get a compilled list of all these animes from someone. You could call it my christmas present?

I have actually seen a bunch of the animes you guys have been pitching...

DBZ = Sucks
FLCL = AWESOME
Hellsing = Awesome (but I might need to find this manga people have been telling me to get cuz its crazy)
Bleach = I like it, but they spend too much time with flashbacks and the whole Bount issue isn't worth watching (also has a better manga than anime like naruto)
Escaflowne = I haven't watched it in a while, but I still liked it
Naruto = It's not deep and is just embarrasing (read the manga, its better)
Evangeleon = Confusing and not fun to watch (Rei is a clone of my WHAT!?!?!)

And I just wanted to point out that not all Anime has a bad english dub. Cowboy bebop's english dub is better than the japanese. Same goes with Samurai Champloo and a bunch of other shows. I guess I just don't like to read subtitles. Although, I have watched Ikki tousen in the original japanese (that is one weird show)
