Anime wtf moment

Evangelion is not a battle mech anime. If you started the series with that misconception I'm sorry but you got tricked. Evangelion is a slice of life anime about shinji ikari, and to think otherwise is to miss the point entirely. Also like I stated in my previous post you're not suppose to like any characters. In fact you're suppose to despise them completely. Evangelion characters arn't something you should get attached or personal about. It's like a freak show, you watch it simply because it's weird and disgusting. As for character depth that *teaspoon* of depth is far superior than most anime out there today like bleach and naruto which are full of characters with personality flat like a piece of paper. And the director's intention is to show other people how he got out of depression. So if you don't think Evangelion is relatable at all then good for you, you're mentally sound.

Back on topic Basilisk the anime also have some pretty wtf moment when the characters are pulling off crazy ninja skills. Gunbuster 2: Diebuster is also full of wtf moments like when the girl splits Jupiter in half.

I have never watched this series, as its basic premise is far too ridiculous for my willing suspension of disbelief to accept, but so far as I know this happens every episode, multiple times.

I think I'm going to represent everyone who watches this out of context, and perhaps a few who watch it in context by going; huh!?

Nope that was actually aired on TV as genuine as it gets. My anime WTF moment was during the second season of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" they aired the same episode about 5 times with only mild tweaks on the end seriously you could skip 4 episodes and not have missed a single thing.

Still love the show to death though.

The more you watch anime, the more you just start to get used to WTF moments. As stated already, FLCL is essentially 6 episodes of WTF posing as a TV show. Quality though.

Bad WTF: Almost all of Tenchi Muyo.

Good WTF: Almost all of Samurai Champloo (especially Mugen's Windmills and Jin dressing up as a woman).

I've seen some stuff that probably classifies as 'weirder' since, but my very first 'what the hell...' moment is still the most vivid in my mind.

The very first anime series I watched was a harem serial called Shuffle!. I went in not knowing a thing about anime, but was still expecting some weird stuff. Lets just say that I was okay with the whole 'KKK' business, and even bought the whole god/demon dimensional bridge deal. But when Sia and Nerine showed up and both claimed the main character as their husband, my exact thoughts were, "holy balls, what the hell have I gotten myself into?"

Looking back, its not quite as messed up as stuff like Evangelion or Elfen Lied, but that's because I now know what to expect (and I understand exactly what the word 'harem' implies). At the time, though, it just felt... weird.

I have to say, humour in anime is often like this since there's no real sense of restraint. Who else remembers the watermelon Hollow from Bleach?

You should watch it, it's a level of slapstick funny beyond anything else you'll ever see.


My what the fuck moment was from umineko, when battler just throws random shit together in order to beat beatrices argument, episode 25-26 I think.
Manga moment came after reading 99 issues of mx0 only to realise it'd been cancelled last year and given a completely dump ending.

and a few episodes of ergo proxy had me scratching my head...but I think my favorite was this one
because we all remember that chip eating scene.
