GunXSword would be a cool drifter anime than what it turned out to be. Hellsing needs to be about a hundred more episodes, and Ultima needs to finish >.>

EDIT:BIG O! I forgot Big O! The ending turned out like it did because of the cancelation, they need to either work off it, OR declare it noncannon due to the circumstances and work from a different episode. I need more Dorthy and Roger banter :(

As for the Suzumiya Haruhi series, this is based of a light novel and is being activily translated. Google "Bakatsuki" and you can read it on their site. (or if you don't feel it's right if it is not animated or something, I'm pretty sure there will be more of this in the anime industry)
Uhh... Bakatsuki stopped translating the Haruhi series and took it down off their site way back in January last year after receiving a cease and desist letter off the English copyright holders. The first four novels in the series have already been translated into English and released, with books 5 and 6 coming out later this year.

On topic
Trinity Blood. The ending is kind of a letdown since it leaves everything still unresolved.

Have you heard the term "Monkey paw wish"?
Claymore didn't finish the story but it didn't drag on forever either.
I could name a million animes that would be better if they were a third of their length.
The problem with Claymore is that the ending was so clearly rushed, and that they were just tying up as many loose ends as possible in the quickest way possible. You don't realize just how many plot threads they left unanswered unless you read the manga. Which actually gets better as the series goes on.

I think the perfect length for most anime is between 15-25 episodes. Claymore is one of those odd series that i'd love to see go 50-60 episodes and wrap up everything.
The problem with me personally is that I didn't read the manga .
(Gantz is the only Manga I've read and holy shit was that awesome.)

Another problem with me is that I get way too attached to the characters way too quickly.

One of the best things I've seen recently was Rin Daughters of Mnemosyne (which is only 6 episodes). I fell in love with the characters almost instantly and (In theory) I'd love to see them meander through filler for 20 episodes but most likely the reason I like them so much is that everything they do is concentrated and powerful and diluting the experience even a little would wash out the whole thing.

Anything that has a prominent narrative story needs an ending.
Some of the long ass animes like Dragon Ball Z, Innuyasha, Bleach, or Naruto are nice but would be so much better if you could just take them down to a more bitesized story. Which for them would be about 100 episodes, mind you. I'd say under 50 episodes is good

Is the anime or manga for Gantz better? It's on my list of things to take a look at.

The huge multi-arc shonen anime are weird. Unless they drag out with endless filler or repetitive fight scenes I can deal with the length. Yu Yu Hakusho is an example of one that I think did a great job of limiting filler and keeping the story on track. Dragon Ball Z on the other hand, annoying heros notwithstanding, had way to much filler and pointless episodes. A lot of the shonen audiance likes the filler though....

The best example I can think of for what I was hoping Claymore to become would be Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. 64 episodes, limited filler, and it tied up its plot in a satisfying way.

Not only was this one of the few animes I have seen that made me sympathize with a character as much, let alone as well fleshed out, this was a reboot done right. And no the new evangelion movies aren't reboots they are sequels.
I'll second that, such a well done show. BtM is one of my favorite series and I want to see what happens next. So much was left in the air at the end, kind of a letdown. The least that could happen is the manga gets a release here in the U.S. Doubt either will happen, though a guy can hope.

I would also like to see more Desert Punk.

Read the Manga. Do not watch the anime. I'll try to save anyone I can from watching the Gantz anime. The Manga is incredible though.

DBZ and Innuyasha were some of the first animes I ever saw and I was younger when I watched them so they have a place in my heart.

I never really started watching YuYu Hakusho and Full Metal Alchemist. I had sort of moved on to the (Well I don't know exactly what to call them) "girly" (for lack of a better word) animes like Lucky Star or Auzomanga Diao by the time my friends were recommending YYH and FMA to me. What I have seen from YuYu Hakusho looks really cool but the same kind of cool that DBZ was. I just never made the effort to sit down and watch them.

I'd like more Initial D, I don't care what anyone says. Or even just another anime with that sort of thing. It just represents such an impossible side of street racing today.

Otherwise that's about it, don't really think that many anime's need to stretch out that much anyways, most of them are lots of filler for only a handful of episodes a season where anything actually happens, especially Initial D. I guess Ghost in the Shell SAC could always come up with more awesome conspiracy's, the writers for that are genius. Death Note was great in the beginning too, I'm glad it ended the way it did though, not too long and nice and intense.

and would add His and Her Circumstances to the list. Seriously, the only reason that last one ended was because the manga artist got her panties in a bunch about the anime's direction and pulled out. And that series had a LOT of room for expansion.
I actually kind of liked how they handled the ending.

The entire show was about the different circumstances of a relationship, and that these circumstances will continue for the remainder of that relationship. There are tons of movies and shows about romance that basically end with "They lived happily ever after". But as long as you're in a relationship, there's going to be difficulties, misunderstandings and whatnot.

And this is kind of what Kare Kano means in the end when it says, "His and her circumstances will continue".

I know they ended because of the manga artist pulling out, but I still liked how it was handled nonetheless. Plus, the story didn't really seem to go anywhere at that point anyway. Atleast, not for Miyazawa and Harima.
Hehe. I remember you said something similar on my review of the series. I think my problem is less to do with how it ended, and more with the fact that it ended period. I really didn't want it to end.

I second this. I recently finished watching the first two parts on Netflix and I am hooked! Really hope they follow through on that "To be continued" at the end.

Soul Eater

I think there was way too little content in the series.. seriously 50'ish episodes... that's not enough for any anime.. I hope they make more.

I really enjoyed "Air Gear" and "Flame of Recca"
They were both really fun to watch and I enjoyed the premises, and then they just ended.
Above and beyond those two, is "Kiba" You can't end an anime like that, it's cheating
he fuses with Amil Gaoul in the last scene of the show
that just screams new season of awesomeness, especially with what it meant
HE CAN FLY NOW
. I will consider it a crime against humanity if Kiba doesn't get another season eventually.
also, "Firefly", while not an anime, still deserves a mention, because that show was awesome, and needs to be continued.

Forgot to mention "Tokko" which has the setup for at least another 20some episodes, and never continued.

Code geass really needs something like a quick amv, not another full season. Just enough to settle the ending and see what happened to some of the characters who got more screwed up than others
like Nanully and C.C.

Exactly, I don't care how long it is as long as it wraps up loose ends

Blade of the immortal, really needs a proper finishing episode. Actually I think a full new series following the manga blow for blow would be awesome.

I can understand that. Especially since it ended immediately after this new interesting romance had formed.

But I guess that's the problem with every good slice of life story. There's no way to bring it to a real satisfying conclusion. I had the same issue with the manga Genshiken. The characters were going to continue living their lives at the end, but I just wasn't going to to able to follow it anymore.

IRIA, my favourite anime and the only one in which I still watch over and over despite it being so short. I'd love to see another series of it. :D And I'd like another movie as well.
