So I have now played through Dragon Age, and am waiting patiently for the sequel. I have really enjoyed the game, probably more so than any I have recently purchased except for Fallout 3. That being said, I think that there are several things that should be improved, not in the expansion pack, but in future games, as it has been pretty much confirmed that there will be at least a sequel.

The very first thing I can think of are the loading screens. By far, the most painful aspect of this game was the loading screens. I think its safe to say that 10-20% of my game time was spent in loading screens. Now, I understand that these levels are hard to load, but really, if the developers could PLEASE find something interesting for us to look at while the screen is loading, it would be worth it, a million times over. I liked how they had little tips, and sometimes they were extremely helpful. I think that something could be done about this.

Another thing that would be useful is some kind of explanatory feature for the more detailed aspects of game, specifically combat tactics. I played this game alot, and I still have only the vaguest idea of how to program my other party members. It was a cool feature and I'd like to see it stay, but wouldn't it be easier if I could do something like Fallout 3: "Stay far away, shoot." And then build onto a basic model?

Another point for me was the quick command bar. I'm sure that it's easy for PC players to pause the game and scroll through their radial menu, clicking spells, ect. However, I feel that a system like WoW, where you could scroll through several lists of stuff, rather than just 2 of three options, would make more sense.

A final point is kind of silly but was a big deal to me, at least. The Elf Mage story line. I enjoyed playing this character more than any other, but was more frustrated by it than any other. Other than a few conservation choices, the backstory for this character was terrible, but could have been SO awesome (how did he get into the tower, does he chose the elves over the circle?). I really feel that having some sort of alliance system/relations system like they do in WoW would have added alot to the game. I can't continue this post, but have several other things to comment on the game.

Where's my jump key? And ability to fall? I like that kinda stuff. Otherwise I loved the game.

What system are you on? Because I had no trouble with loading screens. I was always in and out in about a second.

The only annoying part for me was the glitches, which crashed my game a few times actually. If they fixed those up, it would be almost perfect.

Oh yeah, and making the characters movements look a bit more natural would be a big bonus.

What made me take back Dragonage was the horrible voice acting, mainly all the American elves. 5 minutes into the game any suspension of disbelief that I had was gone.

As somewhat of a Bioware fanboy, this was a sad day for me.

I never had long load times when I was playing. My biggest critique was that the ending felt rushed. We spent all this time gathering an army then the game ends very shortly from that point on. I was hoping for something a little more epic.

I felt the mage route itself was a little weak. I wanted to have the option of being a mage and not being in the tower. Surely not all mages are from the tower. I would have liked to play as an apostate. That would have been an interesting background.

Otherwise, I pretty much loved the game. What small gripes I had were insignificant when taking the game as a whole.

In my opinion the only good part was the story.
It was the only thing that made me drag my character through hours of the most boring shite I've ever played.
I agree. The story, and the art style were awesome. Now they only have to make the gameplay good.

I'd say the graphics need to be improved. They don't look so bad when I'm running around, but in conversations it was almost painful to look at the background. I know it was an untested franchise and didn't have as much budget as Mass Effect 2, but I hope to see improvement in Dragon Age 2.

Um, I doubt I am any kind of super genius but once I actually looked at the ally commands for tactics, it was sorta self explanatory... At least to me.

Fix any useless tactics they have, make sure those who can break grapples will actually use them at high priority, IE towards the top as opposed to the bottom. Make sure any modes you want them to stay active are set up. Etc etc.

The fact they cut out the option to be a Human Commoner for your origin story, and the fact they didn't let Jowan be a companion. I loved that guy, totes.

For me the gameplay was a bit meh, but it was nice to see all your tactics pay off.

The Fade level in the Mage recruitment. That fucking dragged on each playthrough.

The most annoying part to me was how the weapons clung to your body like you were Magneto. For knives and swords there should have been scabbards. The first thing I thought when I saw my weapons clinging to me was Fable, then MMOs, both of which have reasons for doing this. Scabbards are possible people, maybe not for ridiculous weapons, but I don't want to see two knives chilling on my back, being held up by the updraft of my farts... that makes no sense.

This made me LOL.... which is not good since I am at work... :)

OT: I had no problem with load screens, graphics, voice acting or glitches, but I am with the other posters when I say that the Mage story could have been better, or at least they could have had more. My problem was not with the story so much, but with the fact that there are so many magic schools and cool combos to specialize in, but only one origin story.

Considering I was already looking at playing through the game at least 4 times to see all the endings, I didn't want to add another unnecessary play through to build a second mage. Giving me a second mage origin story would have provided me the necessary encouragement to do so and I would have gotten to explore more of the mage trees.

As a result, I had two rogues, one warrior and one mage.

For me it was the combat. I found it tedious and monotonous. I still haven't finished the game, because I got to the battle with dwarf paragon ***** and her golems and she keeps stomping my ass and replaying it is just so fucking monotonous.

I played the game on a laptop with decent hardware, so long loading times were my biggest problem, in addition to some bugs related to looting. Somtimes I would have to wait several minutes after having killed a boss before I could loot it, which caused me to become somewhat aggrevated. Otherwise, it's a great RPG, but gameplay and graphics could use some work. It's not that I care about graphics, but DA:O was notoriously bad as far as graphics are concerned for being a present generation game.

There were a few sections I'd love to skip during my second playthrough though... But Mr || already touched upon that, it seems.

I dot like how the characters went all hunched backed when in combat mode. What? did conventional tactics at the time say that gorilla arms were the best way to fight darkspawn?

Also have the characters actually fight each other. they did that with Kotor 1 and 2 and it was so awesome watching the fights. They didnt even have a lot of animations for it but at least eh characters weren't just swinging swords at each other blindly

and lastly I agree with the tactics explanation, so many games have them, but I rarely ever see my characters do something other then "run in a hit with sword"

I sitll like the game though
