The loading screens aren't usually that bad.... No wait, I'm just saying that because I played this after ME2.

Now I haven't finished the game yet, but what is annoying from the start is the camera, if you pull it up and away (to an rts kind of view), I am not able to move it as far as enemies have missles/magic range. So an enemy might shoot at me and I have to zoom in and find the enemy, which is 50:50 that I can even see it from some branch or something getting in the way...that was the most annoying part.
This is a huge problem with the top-down RPG sub-genre and the main reason I want it to die a painful death. The fact that Blizzard is even making a Diablo 3 enrages me beyond the limits of your imagination. If it sells well, there'll be a thousand imitators that will swamp the market and end up stifling the good games that have made the move to First person or behind the shoulder viewpoints.

Dragon Age was full of problems but there were a few things that made it worthwhile (a few of the characters, the art style, morality system). My main issues were:

1) Combat was far too MMOish, unnatural, fidgety, slightly too difficult. Even with the use of tactics, you have to micro-manage to a high level, meaning most battles are stop-and-go affairs which really breaks down the fluidity of the story-telling.

2) Voice-acting was extremely uneven. Alistair was voiced well but animated poorly. Morrigan was terrific. Leliana (I know I'm going against the grain here) was pretty damn good, except for her 'song'. Then, you had the EPIC FAILS i.e. Anora's maidservant and Marjolaine among others.

3) Plot was amazingly generic although it still was good enough to hold together the game. Really, it only just passed the bar as far as I'm concerned.

4) Level-design was simplistic, but I've come to expect that from Bioware. Largely linear mission areas with small open hubs = safe formula. I wish Bioware would just take the plunge and set one of their games in a sandbox.

I agree with everything you said but I was fine with them, I only wish that bloody combat system was better. I got used to it but I still wish it was better. I'm gonna get some hate for this but Bioware were never very good in the combat department (from what I've played at least, though I probably can't talk because I've only played dragon age and mass effect 1 & 2), they always make up for it though in some way or another.

I hated the combat. I'm good at programming and it was fine with pausing and selecting who to attack what. That's all fine, but the fact that you have to real-time control one character and then rely on the tactics for the rest was just so annoying to me. Either go JRPG style and let me choose all the actions for my whole group, or let it be more strategic "sit back and direct" the flow of action... I think if my main character behaved on tactics and obviously with the ability to pause and select more specific tactics I would have way more enjoyment out of the game. As it is I got bored and still haven't finished. In fact, I lent it out in exchange for Heavy Rain. I also didn't much like the talent trees nor the specialization thing since it's pretty unclear how to unlock them.

Oh also Alistair would often freeze when entering combat as my tank so I'd start fighting (main is rogue) and I have nice heals going from Wynne and dps from whoever I choose (Morgane or Sten sometimes dog) but Alistair would like freeze up as if he didn't know who to attack... Didn't happen every time tho so sometimes I wouldn't notice it and be all like "WTF! ..OH YOU FUCK!" I guess it was from putting aoe abilities into his tactics (taunt). Anyway it was also tedious with the whole having to put a point into tactics to unlock more... that should be automatic every 2 levels.

So yea the combat I found tedious/annoying but at least manageable. They were on to something but it needs an overhaul.

Oh and loading screens I didn't think were bad at all playing on PS3... maybe at most 20secs but usually way less.

EDIT: I just remembered something that bugged the shit out of me in DA:O. Item upgrading. Stupidest. Upgrade System. Ever. EVER! I have to SELL my gear, reload my game, and then BUY it back for WAY the fuck more!? Are you KIDDING!? Seriously, that really, really grinds my gears. Give me a damn upgrade option!! Or don't allow items to upgrade - just have different areas with vendors selling the better gear like old school RPGS. Blah that alone almost killed the game for me I guess my memory tried blocking it out but the more I think of it the more I hate it.

The voice actors for the dwarves. I imagined cockney British voices at least, and would have preferred some hint of a Scotsman in there, but I just get... terribleness.
