I don't buy it. This isn't Anonymous' style at all. Say what you will about their methods, but it all serves a purpose. Everything they do is free speech and freedom of information. Taking down Facebook doesn't help that goal in anyway shape or form. Also, November 5th? A group as big as Anonymous wouldn't need anywhere near that much prep time.
Worst case scenario, Facebook is DDoS'ed for a day, tops.

Ah it's a great day to have been invited to Google+. Later Facebook,it's been nice knowing ya-oh who the fuck am I kidding. Myspace is gonna be the new friendster as facebook becomes the new Myspace and Google+ becomes the new Facebook,it's a never ending vicious cycle and we all have to deal with it.

EDIT: Oh shit, this is my 9/11 post...HURRAY FOR ME FOR MAKING IT TO NUMBER 9/11! Yay...now there's only X amount of posts to go...

Funny thing? They tried that before and the most anyone got was a bit of lag when using it.

This particular group of anonymous people don't seem as professional as the others anyway. I mean, they're using MS Sam for christ sake. >.> I realise its a perfectly valid way to keep your voice hidden, but seriously? Half the people they would want to recruit who have any hacking knowledge or any knowledge of how to get past security for facebook (such as myself, woo, security training ftw) are probably going to turn it off just from that annoying voice.

ewwwww

I hate Facebook. I really, really do.

It's not that I hate Zuckerburg or the idea of bringing friends closer, but the majority of people on Facebook are true nimrods. Usually teenie-boppers who haven't got two thoughts to rub together.

Anywho... I dont know what they would do with my account...
My payment methods wouldn't work... Paypal and Visa Debit both tied to a closed account...

Facebook isn't all evil- I use it to keep in closer contact with my friends and relatives who live far away (i've moved alot so tons of them)

I think this is going to cost Anonymous some serious fan-points...

what stuff should be taken down? You know for safety just in case
this is my profile:
my old email address, a list of tv shows, a list of bands and my description 'if your reading this, fuck off because who the fuck cares?'
oh and that i'm left-wing. i think they might like that, what with the whole filesharing thing.
thats pretty much all you need, no addresses (if theyre your friends, why do they need to know where you live?)

Hmmm. :|
I don't care what happens, though I would rather have a facebook.
I just want to see if Anonymous can actually do this.

In all seriousness I can't see this coming to much. They'll probably just spam gore and cp on a few accounts, maybe bring it down for a day at most and then that'll be that.

Edit: Just to be safe I've batoned down the hatches a bit on my profile. I posted the article on my wall to warn friends, changed my password, tightened privacy, removed/changed some info (even before this I've always run a tight schedule, I've never even had a profile pic) so fingers crossed!

Oh come on anon. Some of us find it useful for keeping in touch with our friends without having to resort to google groups or email. I just find it damn convenient.

...I get that you're probably pissed at what's-her-name-zuckerberg. Isn't there a better way to get back at her without annoying the hell out of regular people who have no...........Why am I even typing this? Anon probably WOULD find that funny.

...Aren't there worthier, more lulzy causes to pursue?
Facebook sells all the information you put up on it to advertisers.

It also never lets you delete your account :l

Actually it does.

Facebook allows the government and whoever else to monitor what you do, what you like, who you associate with, etc. It is very common for big companies to do background checks by looking at your Facebook profile. Look it up if you don't believe me. By taking FB down, you take away the power of "The Man" to watch every move you make and everything you say.

Anonymous vs. Facebook?

Las Vegas booking stations would be going crazy if they decided to add this match-up.

My money's on Anon. They've got a sterling track record for raising hell up to this point, and with a network as porous as Facebook, they should have no trouble causing some serious emberrassment for Mr. Zuckerberg.

I'm confused. Is Anon telling me my outspoken preference for Adventure Time makes me vulnerable to the government? Oh noes!

This is gonna be entertaining isn't it.......can I have some popcorn?
Got room for two more? This is something I can get behind and can't wait to see the carnage. Either way, I can't lose, taking a dislike to both parties. Play on Gentlemen!

Calumon: You all sit and watch people fight? That's mean!

Jack: Do you want them to share the popcorn?

Calumon: I'll be good! :3
Hey, is that buttered? Pass it over here!

OT: I'm already spreading the word. I've posted this all over Facebook to tell my friends!

Here's an idea: Everyone send Anonymous a friend request, then maybe they won't act like such twats.
Have an internet, for making me laugh. I now have this image of a lonely suited man with a green head sitting there refreshing their profile to see if they have any friend requests.

This could well be fake. And there's no better way to alienate those with sympathy towards Anon-Ops than to remove their main platform of internet-ness.

As for facebook and it's privacy settings... Meh. There's not much information you can put on there that isn't already public domain/easily accessible elsewhere anyway. And everything you do on the internet is probably recorded anyway; taking it out on one website seems a childish and pointless gesture.

Unless they can get chat logs, I'm not to worried.

In fact, I really couldn't give two shits. Have fun destroying that website Anon. That'll really prove... whatever it is you are trying to prove.
