I know about being tracked by cell phone towers, as well as GPS, IP address ... the whole gamut. But the thing is that I've never liked Facebook. Too many, in all honesty, simple minded people sharing crap that nobody's interested in to people who they would much rather not talk to in person anyway. Not everybody, but enough to make me wonder about the fate of humanity. I also don't like that some corporation or government worker can just spy on what I do, what I like and the like without any kind of difficulty.wench said:No, you just make it marginally more difficult. You can be tracked via cell phone towers, and FB isn't the only company with crap security. The Virgo said:Actually it does.BrailleOperatic said:I don't buy it. This isn't Anonymous' style at all. Say what you will about their methods, but it all serves a purpose. Everything they do is free speech and freedom of information. Taking down Facebook doesn't help that goal in anyway shape or form.
Facebook allows the government and whoever else to monitor what you do, what you like, who you associate with, etc. It is very common for big companies to do background checks by looking at your Facebook profile. Look it up if you don't believe me. By taking FB down, you take away the power of "The Man" to watch every move you make and everything you say.
And while we're at it, I have a hard time supporting such lovely freedom fighters as Anonymous given that their happy freedom loving hack on Sony saw one of my credit cards get compromised (as in, people charging things to it). Don't fool yourself that this is some noble venture, unless "stealing people's money" has suddenly become a great cause.
Why does it need to happen? I'm sure most people that go on facebook care nothing for anonymity and don't do it to be anonymous. They do it on their own will, so we should take that away from them in the name of internet freedom?viranimus said:It needs to happen. Anonymity on the internet must be restored in order to restore its vitality. I wish it well, and hope it doesnt end in a complete catastrophe like I sense it will. Its a shame such great lengths must be gone to in order to fix problems created by the ignorant and complacent.
same here. that and talk on the 100.000 strong to bring back megaman pageotakon17 said:Well, the only reason I joined Facebook was so I could comment on this site for stuff like ExtraCredits. Anonymous, good luck.
And, I live in Central Queensland.. you know that bit in Australia that went underwater recently... and there was a facebook group used to keep everyone updated about where the waters were, where not to go, where to get help, missing pets and people etc.EverythingIncredible said:What's wrong with Facebook?
Wasn't it used to organize a revolution or something for a country? Isn't that kind of what they stand for?
I was like "what's Topix", so I Googled it, and then I was like "what's so bad about this?" and then I looked at the comments and then I was like "Wow, why are absolutely all the users on this site dickheads?"TheDarkEricDraven said:Come on Anon! Use you're powers for good and take out ED or Topix!
