why? did facebook really do anything worth attacking them? sure they may have had some privacy issues, but even if you succeeded (you won't), it would just force everyone to switch to google plus, which frankly do you really expect them to be any better about privacy concerns, especially if their main competition is beat?

Alright, so everyone can shut up, first, they have the right to do this. And yeah, I know what A LOT of people are going to say, but its like with the PSN outage, users WERE WARNED it could happen, people still signed up and bought things over the system. For some, its more or less easier, while others think about more, there were STILL people, aware of the risk, that it COULD happen. Facebook did the same thing, you have been warned.

Next, Anonymous is powerful, they ARE, more or less they are a core idea [interenet freedom] with held by people who want to withold the idea. So, in a nutshell, this means ANYONE can say their part of it, when their amount of being part of it is debatable.

Thirdly, Facebook, they ARE asses. And infringe on one of Anonymous's ideals, more or less, the ability to be Anonymous over the web, safe and secure. I trust the Escapists not to sell my stuff to foreign politics, or to foreign war lords, or assassins, or rapists, or cons. But on Facebook, your name is RIGHT THERE! And they WILL check to make sure its your REAL name, and your REAL house, and that you are the person you say you are. Its WAY easier to hack someones E-Mail if you know their name.

And finally, my stance on it, as just go ahead Anonymous. People agreed to the risks, and if the risk happens, it shows people to be more cautious with their info-input. Anonymous is a organization that is just trying to make people respect the internet, freedom of its domain, and its livelihood, if they have to do it by hacking people who do things to take away freedom, or take away its credibility, then they should go ahead and do it. Freedom over the internet is a crucial thing that should start to come along in the future, without this group, it may take WAY longer then with it.

There is not much of a more worthy site on the net... everyone who has a computer knows what facebook is, it would be a massive hit if they actually did suceed, it could even have a ripple effect on other sites that trade info, leading to them into fearing anonymous.

I agree though, it would be inconvenient as I sometimes talk to people on facebook, however facebook is known to trade information, so I partly agree with anonymous on this one too, they want to control the internet and enable free speech and privacy. This could lead to massive changes in the future.

Also the zuckerberg person is a he not she.

The only thing I actually do on Facebook is share pictures with friends and plan get togethers. These could all be accomplished with a little more effort with my phone. If Facebook goes, it will be missed, but eventually forgotten.

Notice the words apparently. Honestly I haven't one hundred percent made my mind up about anon. Are they nerdy hackers with a sense of self righteousness? are they doing it to show off? are they for the good or for the bad. The team them selves I haven't made my mind up on. However if they stand for internet freedom and they're doing this for the reasons of stopping people from freely (with their own free will) giving out their private information then I honestly think they're going against they're own point and are in fact, fascists. They may think they're doing well but that's actually how it all starts for every criminal organization or terrorists.

My rant was more against that kind of justification that was presented. Again I have no idea on whether Anon are actually doing this or what their reasons are. I'm just going with the information presented to me.

You ask the question Why do they get to do it? Why do they get to fuck up everyone elses tree fort? Simple, because when left in the public's hand, the public did absolutely nothing to fix these problems to the point they were led blindly to believing there isn't even a problem.

Make no mistake, this is not some knee jerk reaction. There has been decades to fix these problems yet the herd refuses to act in its own best interest. The actions of Anon exist for absolutely no other reason that the publics complacency. If the public had fixed these things before they got this bad, Anon would not exist.

So as for your fire analogies, Its Sort of like a person paralyzed by fear inside a burning building. Sometimes they will even resist the firefighters trying to save their lives. Sometimes they will even force the fire fighter to leave them behind because they are too afraid to be saved.

Again.. when the public sat with their thumbs in their ass and let things get to the state they are currently in.Where was the backlash for corporations being given rights that trampled on individual freedoms and liberties set forth and protected by the US constitution? How about the words of Black? Where was the public outcry at Carnivore? Thats right the public didnt give a shit because it was too busy posting irrelevant status updates(rhetorical) no one gives a shit about and artificially inflating its sense of belonging. You (as in the public, used as such herein) voted when you did nothing. You used your freedom of speech to say nothing. You used your freedom of speech to beg to have more rights, freedoms and liberties taken away from you. You ask who are they to decide? Just by way of example they were a major contributor to the Jasmine revolution, How have you contributed?

This isnt even a case of one group deciding for another as much as this is a situation of junkies addicted to their complacency. Thats why this is why face book is a target. Sometimes when all other reason fails, you have to shake a junkie loose from their addiction and make them work it out of their system cold turkey because in most cases of addiction the addict doesnt realize they are addicted, and doesnt understand that their thought processes is completely flawed and runs counter current. The only thing that gets their attention to make them realize how they are hurting themselves is to separate them from their addiction.

This isnt some knee jerk reaction. The public has had ample time to get these things under control yet does absolutely nothing but perpetuate this garbage and if you leave garbage to pile up long enough, eventually someone will come along and clean it up because they are sick of enduring the stench.

With all that said and my prior posts, I have said all I can on this subject. I will convince you of my position no more than you will convince me. For me theres no more reason to continue speaking on it because I have expressed my opinion and elaborated on it.

You can take it for what it is worth, but I would ask, if you truly are against ANON and their ideology, then step up, fix the problems. Present a better way than what they are trying to do. I think theres more than enough people who are beyond pissed off at how screwed up things currently are and the various ways they are being screwed over. They are willing to consider a better way. If what is presented is better you will not want for support.
