I support what Anonymous are doing in this case, but it's kinda counterproductive. "Hands off our legal (and illegal) porn" just makes them sound like a paedophile ring. Which is exactly how they can be painted by the conservative media now. And of course, anyone investigating them finds out what their roots are, and can you imagine the average hardcore christian reaction to 4chan? I'm liberal, anti-censorship, atheist and well educated, and I still find it pretty foul.
It would be a nice if there was an organised protest group which had some respectability and still made headlines, but I guess I might as well wish for a jetpack while I'm at it.

Ditto to this. The dude is basically saying that these sites should be blocked because they encourage bad behaviour, disseminate questionable material, and act as launch pads for harassment. So in response they pile goatsies into his inbox?Crazy_Bird said:

This was almost nothing to do with gamers. A bunch of trolls protesting the idea of a ridiculous amount of censorship. But I've always enjoyed the 4chan raids. Like the Habbo ones. They're always such fun. And how was this hacking? If you're just saying that the gov. will try to spin it this way, fair enough. But even then I doubt it. The attack is conterproductive. A government representative won't back down to threats. it shows weakness. The flitering proposal is bullshit aswell. I can't remember where i heard it, but "If you could be told what to see or read, then it follows that you could be told what to say or think."
Mostly, I think the last paragraph of this article is the most interesting:

So basically, in the future, instead of a million people marching on Washington to protest something, we'll just have ten million people running bots on their computers to spam the White House with pornography. AWESOME!

I have to say, i can see this getting totally ignored by everyone except us interested internet types. For example, i can't see this making the 6:00 news.

Anonymous' is going completely the wrong way about this. No one is going to take you seriously if you bombard the PM with porn, they've done more than good by this. Although I am on their side, they are being completely retarded in the way they've gone about the situation.
I'm getting sick of all this censorship crap. If parents want censorship there is software that does that. Dont screw my already not too flash Australian internet speed cos you want to impress some people for the next election. And that IS what this is about. Nothing in politics is about the nation it is about winning votes to keep power. Honestly there has to be a more feasible form of governance than democracy. DDOS attacks will prove nothing, change nothing and probably detrimental but spamming government with porn gives me a smile, so I'm not too fussed about it. Atkinson is essentially trying to force his opinions on others rather than doing his job, so I hope he crashes and burns. Like the cops finding he was hoarding child porn on his computer so he could be the only person in Australia with it or something similar.
Micheal Aktinson Update: I was watching the Australian game review show Good Game and they had an interview with Micheal Aktinson, in which he explained that at 2 in the morning someone (A gamer) had slipped a warning note under his door then he went on to say 'I now feel my family is more threatened by gamers than the illegal bikie gangs' (WTF!?!?!?!). He also commented on Gamers 4 Croydon (Vote for them) an dsaid they were gamers who would engage in criminal activity'. This is just mad.
