Thanks Anonymous! You just single-handedly provided that last little bit of "justification" for NET NEUTRALITY LAWS.
This is what pisses me off about Anonymous. On one hand I kinda sorta admired what they were claiming they wanted accomplish. Unfortunately, like any extremist element (and yes Anonymous are extremists, whether the term is palatable or not), they've allowed misguided notions of grandeur to spill over into reckless, poorly considered actions against an authority that until now has allowed them to operate relatively under the radar as a childish annoyance.

But their quest for recognition has repercussions they won't expect nor anticipated. Being a target of the United States Government is not a fun place to be. Oh, I'm sure there are some die-hard revolutionaries in their ranks, but I have a sneaking suspicion many of them are just 14 to 16 year old kids who think their being kickass, fighting for some sort of cause without even a full understanding of that which they think they are fighting for. Attacking mastercard for doing what ANY business would do when faced with the situation they were in? Mastercard was a business and they have the right NOT to do business with anyone they choose. Especially if that someone may not be supported by a large majority of customers. Want to boycott? Fine. Attacking them for distancing themselves from a controversial group like wikileaks? What next, is someone going to attack Gatorade for cutting ties with Tiger Woods?

And now, you want to go up against the FBI?! The FREAKING FBI, who brought down the KKK, who busted the mob, who has unlimited resources, mind, and manpower at their disposal, and is backed by legislators who already think the internet is "dangerous" and technology should be regulated because of potential danger in the hands of "children?"

Well good luck. It'll be interesting to watch. But remember:
"You reap what you sow."
This...

It's too true.

I honestly don't no which one, if any, I would support.
yeah um there is a difference between a bumbling government and the CIA the government is politicians the CIA could have you killed very easily if it wanted to.
Just like Castro, Bin Laden, Kim Jong IL, and...oh, never mind.
as far as I know anon is not hiding in a cave surround by thousands of caves and or in a closed off country protected by a bigger country that we don't want to piss off also the people mentioned have many many bodygaurds anon is some dude in a basement.

And to everyone who's expecting arrests: Once you figure out how to track down and arrest several thousand faceless people who know basic track-covering, tell the FBI how, because they don't know.

If these guys are such l33t hackers, why can they do nothing more sophisticated than the occasional DDoS attack (which is an annoyance but does no real damage to the long-term ability of these sites to function?)

As far as "hacks" go, what these script kiddies do is the equivalent of playing ding dong ditch when you're telling everyone you burned someone's house down.

Anon are the mosquitoes of the Internet. Damn annoying but not much else.

True. However, Anon is many dudes in many basements. That equals expensive. I, as a tax paying voter, would be very upset that the Feds were spending money tracking down a bunch of nerds that crashed a website instead of going after the real "bad guys". I don't think I would be alone. If they got nuke codes or top secret data that's one thing, but this...in the end, who cares?

Oh ho ho ho...

Bringing down Gene Simmons and Mastercard is one thing. Pissing the G-Men of is another.

Whats the odds Moot disappears and 4chan is pulled apart?

*Counts my money* Hmmmm I'd have to say the Odds that 4Chan actually survives an FBI assault are probably 1:1056 give or take.

PLACE YA BETS!!!

I'd love to see some major leaks from other countries' governments. Oh yeah, I forgot, these so called hackers don't even know what "principles" they are defending. I also love to see the hackers' medical history and everything supposedly private. Secrets are bad and revealing them is good, right?

I don't think Anon realizes the possible repercussions of their actions. In spirit and in many ways I agree with what anon and other groups are saying, though I think they're going about it all wrong, and are only gonna get a backlash resulting in the kind of

"see??? look at what a dangerous recess of humanity the internet is! We need more control over it! No more net neutrality, etc etc"

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Dutch-16-Year-Old-Arrested-for-Anonymous-Attacks-on-Mastercard-and-PayPal-171736.shtml

The arrests have already begun. Obviously they're never going to arrest "Anon" because that's just an idea and you can't arrest ideas. I can't imagine there won't be people who see these arrests and decide to stop DDoSing big names and stick to smaller fish like Scientology or 13 year old girls.

Slim, anything worthwhile happens outside of 4chan. Most of the stuff that originates there sucks and anything interesting that is credited to it is usually from an outside source. Since 4chan is famous for it's board if anarchy /b/ it makes a great scapegoat.

Now this is serious. Taking down the FBI website shows that the anons can take down anything. Including the escapist.
which is why we must stay neutral,*picks up megaphone * ESCAPISTS, ATTENTION, OUR BATTLE PLAN............uhh.....COPY SWITZERLAND!
eh im sure that the escapist could hold its own against anon if people really got the mind do. Theres a lot more intelligence and computer "know how" on here then they would even expect.
