They just made a lot of powerful enemies.

Seriously though, people overestimate anon waaaay to much. If the USA went ahead and classified them as a "terrorist cell" (which they are) then a few thousand arrests later all the angry teenagers and hackers would learn a hard lesson in reality.
careful now, you may not like them but its your freedom they fight for. or do you prefer to be fed filtered truth and blatant lies by the people who control your life?

Bullshit, they want attention, and now they've bitten off more than they can chew.

They aren't heroes, like internet Robin Hood. They may occasionally do things that happen to fall on the right side of normal morals, but it's really more like accidentally tripping a thief while trying to kick a dog.

Ohhh, now they've gone and done it. This could very well be the catalyst that triggers China-style Internet lockdown in the US. It was hard enough to argue for net neutrality when Anonymous was just the Internet's version of Dennis the Menace. Now that they've done something that could be perceived as truly dangerous, the door's going to be wide open for anyone wanting to impose draconian regulations.

I am appalled both by how far this has gone and by how much support these script kiddies have gotten. Too many readers here seriously believe some dork hiding behind a computer monitor should have the right to force his will on the rest of the world, and in many respects that includes Julian Asshat, too. Also:

The Mastercard, Visa and Paypal stuff was awesome
No it wasn't, because:

Oh, so they stole personal information, too, did they? Gosh, did you think these children would stop at just hurting the company? No, they'd go after the customers, too, all in the name of enforcing their radical, hard-left agenda.

And let's not forget how they attacked Sarah Palin's website and credit card information, all for the crime of CRITICIZING Lord High King Julian Asshat. So those are your heroes, guys: a bunch of anti-free speech anarchists with no regard for the harm they do to others, and you know it's true. The debate may be moot, though--Anonymous has clearly gone too far in going after the FBI, and I expect their pasty butts will be thrown into prison before long. I'm sure they'll get a cozy reception from the other inmates!

To be totally honest I'm completely loving this.
While I disagree with quite a few things anon have done, I love the fact that theres at least someone standing up against the government. Hell, maybe this whole thing with wikileaks and anon will teach the world's governments to not be so damn corrupt if they don't want people to know about it

Bringing down Gene Simmons and Mastercard is one thing. Pissing the G-Men of is another.

Whats the odds Moot disappears and 4chan is pulled apart?
The FBI just placed an order for a quarter million black bags.

Yeah, just make a few thousand arrest, no biggie.

It's beginning to seem like anon doesn't recognize the difference between justice and just being trolling assholes that are only out for self-righteousness...

Can someone give me a run-down on what Wikileaks is, what Anon's problem was with, and what they actually did? I'm late to this party :/

...Really? Why? I get their all about Internet freedom, but doing stuff like this is going to get backlash in a big bad way.

Wikileaks leaked a whole bunch of classified US documents to the wonderful viewers of the internet. First the companies associated with Wikileak's donations cut off because of the leaks, and then the owner of wikileaks was arrested recently, so anon has been retaliating against the payment companies like pay pal, visa, and master card and now the FBI website.

Thats basically the gist of it

This is going to be fun no matter who wins the chaotic neutral or the lawful neutral.

Pissing the feds off like that is suicide. After all, the FBI IS the organization that can make up a thousand reasons for you to be locked up for life. That is, if they're in a good mood. Which I doubt they are in right about now...

*sigh* This is why we can't have nice things. Oh, 4chan, you keep consistently letting me down. I used to think you were such a cool kid. I wanted to be just like you. Now, well, now I just don't know what to think anymore.

It would be hilarious to watch them pulled apart by the FBI. Not likely to happen though. The FBI will get a few "instigators" and make examples of them, but you'll still have the swarm living in the floorboards.
