Huh. That's ballsy. I like that. I mean, I'm not saying they're right, but I admire anyone who has the nerve to make waves for something they believe in. If only they picked their targets better, I'd actively support them.

So... taking down a public page... Which on no way affects or disrupts the important aspects of the FBI's work?

If they'd attempted hacking into their networks, fair enough... but I think most people calling this a bit of a lame, publicity stunt are right.

I'm all for Wikileaks revealing atrocities, but this stuff about diplomatic cables?
I think it's just horseshit. Sure, it's embarrassing for the governments... but having an interest in, and understanding of the important NON CONSPIRACY theory bullshit that real diplomats are involved in, I hardly think the leaks are ground breaking or even helpful.

Diplomats talk shit about each other all the fucking time, in fact that's what I love studying about it. But in due course, when the time for all the stuff to be declassified has come. These are people's careers and livelihoods after all. I'm thinking less about Ambassadors than I am of regular embassy staff getting the flack.

Anyway, if Anonymous want to take pot shots at one of the most well funded law enforcement agencies in the world, that's actually made a name for itself for being able to find people... Good luck to them.
The party van gets docs on people the same way anon does(that's actually probably how anon learned it), as long as they're behind 7 proxies or using LOIC it's generally fine.

One thing I'd like to see is Anonymous doing something besides, you know, ddos attacks. Like, delete critical information. Or at least try to do that.
They do it because it's cheap and easy to pull off. Besides, Anon is more "activist rally" than they are "cyber-rebellion." They're more about throwing paint on fur coats to bring attention to the issue than they are about suicide-bombing Burlington Coat Factory, to use other activist groups as a metaphor.

I think Anonymous has gotten a little to cocky from getting away with fucking with Scientology for so long, the FBI is to big for them, assuming the FBI even pays attention.

How's it a good thing? I don't even see how it's a bad thing, besides being illegal and all.

Go Anonymous! I wonder how Faux Noise will paint this?
far left extremists.

It's always terrorists or far left extremists.

I'm waiting for far left terrorists, to be totally honest.

Honestly, I think Anonymous is doing this so the FBI tracks them down. Then they can try to get the public on their side. Very risky, they will either be a terrorist cell or a martyr for the cause of freedom.
Sorry Anon, but the U.S. has bigger fish to fry then an internet group taking down sites. I don't think anything will happen.

I say more power to em if this is part of that fighting back on piracy and wikileaks thing.

if they are doing it for the lulz(which I doubt) then that was a terrible mistake.

heres what going to happen: the gov is going to get agents in infiltrate annon (which is really childs play). they are going to figure out which annons have some rank/pull the strings. they are going to arrest these people in mass. they will lather, rinse, repeat a few times and they the group known as annon will disapear for a while to let the heat die.

then in a few years they will come back and we will start form square one. or they will decide to quit while they are ahead/free and go back to attacking targets no one really cares about like scientology and facebook.

To be perfectly honest I'm half expecting the FBI to NOT mention it at all.

I think they might find it rather embarrassing, given the silent threats bits of anon have given them ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ye_F0w5nP5w ) the "bowshot" as he calls it.

I think the government might try to at least assessing the situation before going forward.

Being able to steal billions of dollars at will would give even them pause I think.

im not rooting for either i don't much care for the U.S government but i also think anon is taking the wrong approach who knows maybe they will destroy each other and something good will come of this but in reality the will fall the government will stand the world keeps turning towards its own destruction so the best thing to do is say screw it to the whole situation and prepare your zombie survival kits what do you think pitchfork or crowbar

This should be interesting to see the outcome. The government vs. anonymous. I can only wonder what is going to happen.
