I am in favor of any principled resistance to the government, any government. As an American, I have to remember that our founders did the same thing, and the greater of them wanted the same thing to continue to happen. As a son of Virginia, I have to remember the best Americans after the 1860's were principled Rebels.

Every law passed is a lowering of the foot of Government on the neck of Mankind.

Don't tread on me.

Of course Anonymous would want to protest this, even if what that government spokesman said is true. Most of us know of a certain cesspool of the internet, that shall remain unnamed, which Anonymous uses as its unofficial base of operations; and we all know that it contains the aforementioned child pornography and bestiality.

Also, +3 respect to an American who actually knows what his country is all about.

Ughh, Well 4chan will Dominate this world. An Attack on the Internet at ALL makes 4chan very angry and they gather and do some good for the world. Becoming Anonymous and saving Australia, Then burning it to the ground.

Sidenote: Not related to 4chan in anyway...
I was under the impression that mentioning that site would incur moderation.

It's kind of hard to mention Anonymous without bringing up 4chan.

Anyway, the Australian government apparently doesn't know what a proxy server is.

Great, give the nutjob censorship supporters more of an excuse to setup this system. This was the worst possable thing to do, sure it got into the media but all it did was make more people misinformed on the issue.

I don't know who's right or wrong in the campaign info. If the governments right then the hackers are fools but if the hackers are correct then the government are screwing themselves over.
Agreed. There's just not enough info to support one side or the other.

EDIT: Actually, having given the matter some more thought, I decided that even if the government spokesman was telling the truth, the law still shouldn't be passed. Censorship is a no-no.

the difficulty of doing something does not dictate its legality.

"I thought going 100 kilometres per hour in a residential area would incur a ticket"

"It's kind of hard to get to the bakery before 5 o'clock without going that fast"

sound lol-gical?

I'm in Anonymous, we're not all for this. And we're not all hackers, either.

I think the other guys are over-reacting to this, and we should only screw with Australia if they start infringing upon our rights. Australia does have a history of over-censoring things though, so...I'm on the fence for this, actually.

Well said site is in fact relevant here because according to http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/860067/prime-ministers-website-hacked/?rss=yes
it is likely to be blocked if Rudd continues trying to turn the "land of the free" and "fair go" into the fuckin PRC (damn commie bastard). You cannot trust the Aust. Labor party at all( they cant even spell labour), they have done nothing but kiss Hu's arse since Rudd took the lead (I speak mandarin was even an election promise)

Most importantly though P2P sharing and networking sites will mean that none of the legitimately bad content will actually be kept out.

P.S. I dont dislike the Chinese people, I dislike the fact that they are subject to government oppression, and our prime minister is apparently in support of that.

This is awesome, though I think it would have been best targeted after they put up the censorship. I'm not sure how the PM will react. Still, I do find this hilarious.

This is how oppression stars. Despite how in-directly it effects us, everyone should help to free other peoples, despite their country ect.
and this is not an attack on you, just used as a point.

Actually, the mods have cleaned up 4chan a lot. It's now a ban-able suspense to upload child porn and suspension worthy to mention it.

I don't even want to imagine what goes on in there.
