I don't think these cartels have much use for computers, so I don't know what exactly "Anonymous" is planning on doing to them.

Looks like the Cartels don't like the way some people use the net, yea, I really don't see this ending well. At all.
BINGO!!!
Unlike dealing with people in America and using the law to shield your butts, you can't do that against a large group that doesn't give a damn about law. They have ways to find what they want, and if they can't they'll just kill the next best option to send a message.
Hide behind your Computer Screens and Masks all you want Anon and Sheep, but remember that while you hide and try to make pot shots to bring down large scale crime, you'll just cause innocent people to die, which would make you as guilty of their death as any member of the many cartels.
SO what do you propose ANYONE do? the cartels will kill innocents regardless, you cannot lay their crimes at the feet of the people opposing them, that's like saying it's the bloggers fault for not liking the cartel.

Los Zetas are made up of ruthless career criminals and ex-special forces from the Mexican military, they drive around the streets openly brandishing guns and not giving a fuck, they burn people alive in steel drums while throwing lead into said drum turning an innocent person into a soup of molten lead and body parts, they kidnap American citizens who come across the border without fear, the Mexican and American Governments together can't get rid of them, they train new members to use military weaponry and tactics, they make billions of dollars selling drugs, they turn children into cold blooded murderers.

HOW THE FUCK DOES ANON PLAN TO STOP THEM USING THE INTERNET WHEN TWO NORTH AMERICAN GOVERNMENTS HAVE TRIED EVERY TRICK IN THE BOOK TO TAKE THEM DOWN?!?
just want to point out that the US hasn't actually tried to actively eliminate the cartels just their drug trade. mostly due to the fact that the Mexican government doesn't like the idea of the US carpet bombing large sections of their country.(and not to be insincere but their government is highly corrupted and lets face it there's no chance of this ending till that's taken care of)
Their are still government officials who aren't bought yet, and hell corrupt government hasn't stopped the wheels of justice, we got Pablo Escabar and he might as well have owned the whole country, if the American and Mexican governments were more cooperative we might be able to throw a wrench in their operation.

It would be awesome if they could pull this off, but unfortunately, the cartels don't fuck around. They straight up kill people without a second thought. So this could end very, very badly.

Same thing in with La Linea and the Juarez Cartel in Chihuahua. Anon won't be able stop these types of crimes, much less when we are talking about Mexican Drug Cartels. Otherwise El Chapo wouldn't be still be in activity.
It's rediculous, I get that they want to help, but the sad truth is that they really can't, you can shut down a website, you can find out whose who in Los Zetas, but at the end of the day anything you did on the internet means nothing when the guy you're trying to take down does whatever the fuck he wants behind an AK-47.
well, if they find the names and or locations of the officers and leader, that would probably help a lot, just saying
Fixed that for you.

OT: According to wikipedia, they threaten to release personal information of people who are suspected as working with the cartel. Which won't hold up in any court of law, now will it? Sure, it might give some leads. But that's about it.
It will if the mexican government is desperate enough, and at the very least it could give the army/police forces some leads. what i am saying is it probably cant hurt
Los Zetas basically has it's own army, the best bet would be to try to destroy their drug trade, although that would take a hell of a lot of work and cooperation between multiple police forces/governments.

Good for them, I think they can take them on, seriously these guys are not to be messed with, either the drug lords or Anonymous. In this age we do need a group of people to look up to and uphold the law. I just hope that they don't become corrupted and drunk with power.

If anonymous are serious about this, it will sure as hell will be interesting, either side will not back down.

Go get them boys!

Anon are hardly law abiding by any means of the word.

They <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/113850-Anonymous-Threatens-Fox-News-Over-Occupy-Wall-Street>openly threatened a News organization and <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107699-Anonymous-Target-Planned-to-Take-Down-WikiLeaks>brought down amazon, bank of america, and paypal, <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.289058-Anonymous-hacks-Iran-government-leaks-10-000-emails>pretty much digitally attacked a country (which could be seen as either an act or war or treason depending where the person was.

And they do most of their actions through Hacking, which is a rather serious felony.

Anon should stop being a Hacktivist group and start being an Activist group. Hacktivism wont do much against a Cartel, but real-life Activism could.
i doubt it, I'm not going to make stereotype assumptions that anonymous is just computer nerds/ twelve year old's. but the average person wouldn't have the training reacquired to attack the cartels when the Mexican military are having trouble.
.......I said activism, not taking up arms and fighting them. That's not the solution we need.

Can't see the video, but an article I read on this had a former DEA agent noting that exposing the identities of people who work with this cartel would make them targets of rival cartels, not so much bring about a legal solution. Isn't it always better to get your enemies to kill each other, anyways?

Umm ... since when did Mexican Drug Cartels have websites, or use email or do anything that a bunch of nerds sitting behind computers can fuck with? What are they going to do? Hack www.mexicandrugcartelsunited.com? They don't work like that.

But they haven't tried Megaman... or Batman!

Didn't you watch enough TV when you were a kid? All of the worlds problems can be solved VIA Card Game or Digital People.

what about when these people are on the other side of the world? they may not be able to hide face to face, but they could definitely hide behind their computer screen, snd their own country's government
..except for any anons in Mexico. they're fucked.

Rightousness, aka righteousness is all about making a website hiccup for a few hours.
Then we can ALL forget about how they hacked a website where many people downloaded kiddy porn, then they released the names of all those involved to the police. Yep, that websti totally came back up.

Yes, because the Cartel will counter hack them over this. Honestly, most take them as jokes *like you should* but they can do some crazy shit.

I honestly see this ending with either names being set out or fail, but either WAY it would have been a good attempt.

Everyone posting up that the cartels do not use/need the internet is laughable. Anyone who has studied war should know that you should never assume that your enemy is a bunch of backwards hicks just because they don't look, speak, or think like you. America learned this lesson the hard way in Iraq and Afghanistan.

OT: Anon hacking the cartels is a risky move. Not really for the member of Anon, but for the bloggers and similar people in Mexico who will suffer the real fallout. I'm not sure what good it will do, but at least THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING.

Can't say Anonymous doesn't have the balls to do this.

Personally I wouldn't want to mess with the Zetas, but hey, if they want to go after them, go for it. I don't think this is going to end well though.
