Pretty much what the title says. Anonymous done did piss off the FBI again. This is considerably more than just taking down their website, however. Perhaps not earth shattering, but still note-worthy. I'm curious as to why they were happy to make it common knowledge that they were capable of this, though. You'd think they wouldn't want to tip the FBI off, so it makes me wonder if they've got far more up their sleeve.

So what do people think? Internet revolutionaries or criminals? Or just trollololol? People can't really claim that they're just script kiddies anymore, right?

Also, in before "this thread again".

I think this was most likely done and publicized to show just that; They are not simply "script kiddies."

I think Anon is trying to make a statement about the direction in which this Country (USA) is heading. It's interesting to see all these social forces coming together around the same time: Occupy Wallstreet, Anonymous...hell even the Tea Party. It seems that the nation is getting increasingly polar and dividing. Personally I'm just going to sit back and watch it all unfold.

You're probably right. Anonymous do like making statements like that. I'm not sure that their target is strictly the USA though, although admittedly it seems to be the USA that is the most interested in putting an end to them.

Heh, I'm guessing that they just got lucky with one of the passwords, considering the number of people involved in that email. Anonymous is very much about publicity, as are most of what are called "hacker" groups always have been.

I'm not going to say they went too far, seeing as the call was about them, but I'm not going to say this was wrong ether.

I know Anon is just trying to help, but sometimes I wish they'd just leave everything alone. They have hurt innocent people, no matter how good their intentions.

Anonymous has my full support. Until recently, they had my partial support as I don't agree with all of their tactics and actions, but since I discovered ACTA I think we need all the help we can get, from whatever source.

Sure anon have a core group that can do this level of stuff but the main troops (if you can call them that) are script kiddies. Also if they keep at FBI they will get the FBI's notice and thus become a target. Im sure the FBI is tracking members now, mostly they watch and wait and save information before arresting them.

Be interesting to see what happens next. :)

The claim was no more or less valid before this. There are users from Anon who know what they're doing and are quite competent, but the ratio of script kiddies to competent users is pretty high.

That said, they're likely hurting more than helping on any level.

Good for Anon, just hope they continue to do more of this sort of thing in the future.

Now to cook up some more popcorn!

Ah, it's always fun to watch Anon play a well spirited game of "Poke the bear".
More like "Poke the Fire Dragon made of Nitroglycerin"

And i wouldnt be surprised if the response from the FBI was as such.

While I do agree that there should be something done about the way the world (and US) is going at the moment especially concerning the internet, I don't think Anon has the right approach. But apparently it's the only one that we've got so go them!

It would make for such a perfect punch line to this prank too. I mean it's pretty damn funny all on it's own they got their hands on the call in the first place. It'll be even funnier when the FBI brings down the banhammer.

Phone call is pretty funny too. Never thought I'd hear an FBI agent use the term "gone fubar" in a serious sentence.

I find this slightly humorous, because right below this thread is another stating that the FBI considers privacy as a type of terrorism.

Now, the question is whether I find it humorous because it's a nice big "fuck you" to the FBI, or because it might actually help support their intentions.

Who knows?

IDK, maybe im just not processing it right, but it sounds like you intended to say you dont view Anonymous as either in the right or wrong. Yet im reading your post as you saying they were in the right both ways.

Im I just not reading it right, or was that intended?

I think they are doing it for the fun of it. When it comes down to it I don't think most of Anon would do something seriously bad that could get people hurt or anything. They are kind of like the Robin Hood of the internet.
