The funniest thing is that most of the DDOS attacks were co-ordinated by a guy on 4chan who was posting with a name, "anonymous" is the biggest load of bullshit it's just some wanker's attempt to have internet fame.

It annoys me that typing an IP into a program and pressing a button is classed as hacking.
Unfortunately that's how things are nowadays.

The real hacking is in cracking games and such now, like the PS3 hacker.
Even more facepalmy when they do things like guess or be told a password for someones account "ZOMG I HACKED YOU!!!1" , No , you didn't you guessed the password.
Heres a tip, your not a hacker if:

- You guess passwords
- You befriend and take advantage of someone for a password
- You go on someones account when they leave it logged on
- You use a trainer in SP games
- You use a pre-made hack program in MP (That you didn't make)
- You turn your friends wallpaper into a penis, no your not particularly funny, no he isn't the gay one.

Feel free to add your own ideas.

So someone releases a "hacking" program that doesn't hide the user's id, and then convinces a bunch of script kiddies to use it against targets he doesn't like, and then they get arrested while the creator is still in the clear?

Yup, sounds like the true "Anonymous" is still out there.

Seems Anonymous needs renaming. That's what made them think that they're so powerful, that internet anonymity put them beyond the reach of the law. These arrests nicely show they're not all they're cracked up to be. (The facts that they've never achieved anything and have lacked the effort to do bugger all recently factor into it too.)
Because, of the many, many, many thousands of participants, so few have been arrested that I can count them on my fingers?

That's called success. Any jackass can sign up, so it's inevitable that some of them will be caught. But this is Anonymous' greatest strength. It is in no way a weakness.

And so the war begins. I can see things getting ugly now that five members have been arrested. Any bets on who is going to win?
What are they gonna do? Break them out of jail with their computers.

Theres no such thing as a member of Anonymous. Because they technically arent a group/organization/anything, these are just some unrelated hackers who think it is and are stupid enough to get arrested.

Wait for DDOSing? That's ridiculous, all it involves is going to a website all at once. You could charge anyone with that whenever a website goes down

Serves them right though, should have used proxys

It's delightful how people seem to think Anonymous is in any way organized. Like there are various divisions and some sort of an agenda. It's adorable, truly it is.

Anon: not your personal army.

If you don't have the chops its probably not a good idea guys. The internet is not completely anonymous when someone wants you, especially the police.

A chain may only be as strong as it's weakest link... But Anonymous is not a chain.

Maybe the designer of LOIC did not make it hide the source on purpose as a form of sabotage.
the LOIC was originaly developed to stress test sites
OT: htis is pretty stupid the LOIC has the same effect as spamming a site in other words its not hacking its over using the site (or server) I think we are going to see more of these news articals
