Please please please don't ever put that scumbag, fear mongering beck in the same group as libertarians, he is not one by any sense of the definition. If you want to look at libertarian ideals then look at Ron Paul. Beck is much more of a Tea Party supporter then a libertarian. Beck practicaly prays on the uneducated, mass that the tea party is. The tea party has no idea what they want.Scizzors said:Right - whatever. I'm a tea party member and I don't think Glenn Beck is christ. True tea partiers are middle-of-the-road, not libertarians like Beck. I just don't want to pay high taxes and be foreced to buy health insurance when I don't need it right now. That's what it's about, not that liberal propaganda-porn like you see on MSNBC with its whore-in-charge Keith Olbermann spreading lies & BS about ordinary people. It's so easy to call someone a racist when you disagree with their politics. Quit *****-slapping people with the lies, get out of your left-wing media cocoon and step outside to smell the real world.
I doubt it would be possible to sum it up more eloquently than that.Matt_LRR said:Not really - Anonymous is the ultimate grassroots organization. Like minded people, who band together for a cause, with no central leadership or organizational force to enact social change (or whatever).
Anonymous is basically crowdsourced activism, for better or worse, so to that extent it is worthy of admiration.
Yeah, they're dicks, but they're dicks in a way that is goddamn fascinating to watch.

I beg to differ; whether they're good or bad really seems to depend on what they feel like being at a given point in time.Loonerinoes said:I think Anon being described as 'a force of nature' is most appropriate for them. Sometimes they wreak the equivalent of nature's elemental disasters by posting porn on Justin Bieber youtube links or such...but other times, like trolling Oprah with the over 9000 penises meme or effectively rickrolling MTV 2008 music awards...you can't help but be amazed and perhaps even appreciative of their efforts.
The people behind them are dicks for the most part, no doubt about that. But as a whole...they ain't good or bad. They just are.![]()

you mean chanting desu at the white house playing never gonna give you up while wearing guy fawkes (I believe that's what it called) that something I would like to seeJonluw said:So... Can we expect to see the Oregon tea party employing anonymous' tactics now?
I would pay money to watch that...and then recoup that by selling tickets and selling access to the video on the web.geldonyetich said:So, 4Chan versus Tea Party.
Which one am I supposed to support as the voice of reason here? It's like an escaped lunatic got into a fight with the guy who shouts religious-minded obscenities on street corners.
That sentence right there scares me. I don't know why I think of the Borg when they say it though,"Anonymous: We appreciate your resources and admire your tactics. You have taught us more than you know. As requested, we are no longer using the 'anonymous' quote."
Well I'm gonna be honest Matt, I did not see that coming at all.Matt_LRR said:

I am going to support Anonymous in this one. They have captured a couple of child predators and so have done some actual good in the world as apposed to the Tea Party who just bitches and never offers any real solutions to the problems they complain about.geldonyetich said:So, 4Chan versus Tea Party.

I believe 4chan made a visit to this site once (at least to my knowledge that is) and it was during this year's March Mayhem. I think one of the justifications for why Zynga fans voting for them via their Facebook accounts, rather than making one here directly, was alright was that it helps bring their peeps over to this community as they might want to stick around and share their point of view (a valid argument in my view by the way).Liquid Paradox said:Incidentally, if Anon's were to see all the negative posts in this thread, they would be torn between laughing their asses off or trolling the escapist. Then, they would probably do both.
The fact of the matter is that Anon loves to see this kind of negative response, because it means that they won. You have been trolled, because you are mad. You hate them, and they love it.

Thing is, someone decided to apply this argument in favour of the 4chan boards too. Are not their members as equally worthy to partake as part of this community? After all, when someone posted the Valve vs. Zynga thread on /b/ the outrage of many /b/rothers was genuinely felt and they immediately came over here and gave Valve something like 200 votes in less than 5 minutes!
Heh...problem was they also brought a ton of guro and goatse porn into the Valve vs Zynga thread in the process. I bet the mods and admins had a bit of a bigger heyday during that week or so because of it. But hey - who knows! Chances are that a good number of those /b/rothers decided to stick around this site and add to its traffic figures too!
For what that's worth...![]()
