I know a lot of people don't give much weight to IGN's review scores, but them Edge and Game Informer have all given Skyward Sword 10's. Yeah, so the game I bought my launch Wii for is most likely finally here.

inb4 THEY'RE GIVING IN TO THE HYPE AND THEY WERE PAID OFF AND "PROFESSIONAL" REVIEWERS ARE COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE.

...Yeah, it's a fucking console Zelda game. Something would be wrong if it didn't get some/a lot of perfect scores. Now if only I could materialize another $60...

Pre-ordered this months ago. Zelda is still the safest bet for being pure awesome in this industry as far as I'm concerned.

IGN gives out 10's way to easily. I'm a generous reviewer but some of the games they give 10/10 for just aren't very good at all.
I haven't played Skyward Sword though so I can't judge them on this.

IGN hasn't given a 10 away in a couple years. Uncharted 3 and Zelda Skyward just fucking rock.

So, Games Radar gave it a 9, surprised they think Twilight Princess is "better", while I don't think it was a bad game, it was really the bottom of the barrel when it comes to 3D Zelda...

Well, when it comes to 3D Zelda, the barrel is pretty top heavy. We are comparing it to Ocarina of Time, which is considered by quite a few to be one of the greatest games of all time, Majora's Mask, which many fans of the series consider to be even better, though it tends to get ignored by others, and Wind Waker, which was Game of the Year.

I don't get why people think 10's are such a bad thing. If you think a 10 should mean "perfect", then no game ever will receive a 10, because it isn't possible to create a perfect game (movie, book, show or album). All a 10 should symbolize is a truly magnificent game, that you should go out of your way to experience. I am willing to bet that Skyward Sword more than deserves such an honor, from any publication or person.

Zelda is like sex. Even when it's bad it's still pretty good.

In my case, $100, since I live in Australia. But I also get European imports if I want... but those take time... and there's already Xenoblade... Choices, choices...Either way, it'll have to wait for me, even with all those perfect scores.

...must...avoid...spoilers...

Yeah, pretty much this. I mean Twilight Princess is by far my least favourite 3D Zelda game, and it's still one of my favourite games, top twenty anyway. So the odds of a new 3D Zelda being amazing are pretty high indeed, especially given how much praise has been lavished upon it already. Not that it matters much, I'd still have bought it anyway, Zelda has been, and still is the only game that can guarantee a Day 1 purchase from me.

Well really, a numerical indicator shouldn't be applied to games at all, for precisely this reason, and many more. What makes a game a good game is a nebulous thing, and trying to apply a number to a subjective experience is folly. The reason the practice is widespread is because a) it's an easy summary for the people who don't want to actually take opinions on board and think critically about the words written and whether that resonates with them, and b) Fucking metacritic.

IGN is like Jessica Simpson. Sometimes it's so stupid it embarrasses you but on the other hand, HOW ABOUT THEM TITIES!

Cookie for reference, it's a hard one.

Mehh, my argument would more have to do with them being a bunch of blatant Nintendo fanboys. I think proffesional reviews do a pretty decent job when you look at a lot of them or if you find one or two good ones/ones who's views coincide with yours. That's not just for games either, it's for just about anything.

As for Skyward Sword, well I've never really gotten on with Zelda since the very first one, they've never been quite my thing. One of the main things was that they're really formulaic and doing well at them never really had to do with being clever or quick or good at puzzles, it had to do with being good at Zelda Games. But from what I've heard Skyward Sword is a considerable deviation and I liked what I saw in IGN's review so maybe it'll change my mind.

As for the Ten...well Tens are supposed to be the absolute finest experience that anything could offer so whether TLOZ:SW deserves it remains to be seen.

I'm extremely skeptical. I didn't agree at all with Uncharted 3 being given a perfect score as I felt Uncharted 2 was clearly better.

More so though, the game has a ton to live up to if it's going to surpass Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker as the reviewer suggests.

I can't wait to play my pre-order...but I won't be surprised if the experience falls short of expectations.

I totally fell in love with the ZELDA series and went to the extent of buying a nintendo gamecube, but was disappointed, and never returned.

If its any good i want to return to playing again...

Its just that I am so skeptical about nintendo games these days....

The game's not out yet and they're giving good scores?

Granted, the critics are getting their copies first, but still, kind of putting eggs in the basket here.
