I played the demo and got what I wanted out of it: explosions, force tossing guys into pits, and lightsaber ownage. This isn't a game that's meant to be deep or challenging. Think of it as a summer film: mindless, cheesy, has its problems, but is a hell of a way to kill some time.

I just played through the first real level (the TIE fighter factory) and I LOVE IT so far. Unfortunately, from what I've heard, the later levels are the worst ones, so it'll get worse as I go along. I'm glad I got it, though, just for the story alone. It's like another movie (a good one).

No branching storylines! No CHOICES! But the movies were so interactive!
Don't you like not making decisions, Doctorpus?
A MAN CHOOSES, A SLAVE OBEYS!

Had to be said. I always like the irony that a game that has one of the worst bases for a choice system also seems to tout the importance of it.
I'm pretty sure one of the guys who said that ended up a thousand miles under the ocean up to his arse in genetically modified yuppies.

According to the X-play review, the game is not properly finished.

I suspected this game would just be a tech demo. Wouldn't be surprised if they released a sequel to this with the same engine, same graphics, everything, just more content with the little money they make on the people who buy TFU.
Agreed, top to bottom this game is an extended tech demo. On the plus side it will be great to see these technologies adapted into new games. Bioware's Knights of the Old Republic MMO anyone?

Ok, yes AWESOME, but Online and fancy physics don't mix so well. Granted it's a tech demo game, and although I played the actual demo of the game, I was surprised by the lackluster sabre useage, Jedi Knight: Academy was good,(in a technical sense, it's plot while OK, was very Star Wars MEH garbage)in that regard as I'm sure everyone has already banged on about already.

The "star wars universe" is such a bright, colourful and inviting place, that to have it constantly gutted by mediocrity is quite sad. Perhaps that was the brilliance of the first movies, they sparked the imagination with the untapped possibilites of such a well fleshed out world. Unfortunately the movies have crapped all over that.

Best star wars game for me though is TIE Fighter.

Also I watched the little intro that the demo had and thought HOLY SHIT how crap is this dialogue and voice acting, so NO, I'm not expecting anything particularly brilliant. Just a bit of fun tossing lightsabres into stormtroopers. Then throwing them through glass windows. Into space...although on reflection I couldn't figure out why I was immune to the suck of the vaccum of space... maybe it's the FORCE...naw, magnetic boots... yeah that's what I choose to believe.

Meh, you're thinking too hard.

I played the demo and I don't know if it was a bug or my controller or what, but I thought using force grab was extremely hard. I had to hold down R for a few seconds (and it only registered it half the time), release R, then press L and push the thumbstick in the direction I wanted to throw.

It said something completely different in the tutorial.

Other than that, the game looked alright.

It's certainly not Jedi Knight, but i'm in the fourth Level now and can't see what all the people nag about.

True, it's not the prettiest Game, and it isn't God of War (or...you know, Jedi Knight), but it's crazy fun.
Cool over the Top Physics, great setpieces, slick presentation, and engaging to play, for me TFU is (for now) far better than Reviews make it out to be.

I'm only disappointed by the story. It's there, and there are great things about it (especially the Jedis you fight against are interesting), but it feels like they do not show much of it.

Ah well, let's see how i think about all that after i finished the game.

It really is a shame it's so unpolished. The premise was one I could get behind ("Kick ass with force" yes please) and the story was fairly compelling, but controls and gameplay seem lacking

Or maybe God of War just set the bar too high for every action game to come?

I love this game its like god of war star wars, except this actually manages to last longer than 4 hours of gameplay. It even has a "game within a game" fighting (mini)game. Then again I'm talking about the PSP version. I haven't tried the console one.

I was thinking of trying it on PSP, I'll be less disappointed than on console.

Maybe because most forgot about Destroy All Humans.

Maybe because God of War has a huge reputation in the history of a one-man army overkilling everything...
