Time.

One Time When I Was Walking To St. Ives.
I Met A Man With Seven Wives.
Each Wife Had Seven Sacks.
Each Sack Had Seven Cats.
How Many Were Going To St. Ives?
Just you. Nothing was mentioned about them going to St Ives.
But the riddle didn't say they weren't either. You could have just been walking faster than them and passed them (and considering how burdened down they were, that seems like a likely proposition).
A dog is tied up to a 10 metre piece of rope, and yet he is able to eat and drink from food and water that is 15 metres away from him. How is this possible?
10m of rope would mean a 20m diameter...
You're overthinking it. Good guess, but wrong.

Then ultimately there is no right answer. It could be either.

It's not a guess it's an answer. Just because it's not the one you were thinking of doesn't make it wrong. Presumably your answer is that the rope is not tied to anything else.

Yes, you have gotten it. Good job.

Here is a riddle for you all, and hopefully some of you haven't seen it.

In a mad kingdom, the king decrees that his 100 advisers face death.

Each adviser will be buried to their neck, and have a hat placed on top of them. They are all facing the same direction and can see the hats of everyone in front of them. Each adviser will have to declare the color of the hat they are wearing. If they get it right they will be released, wrong they die. The guy in back(that can see everyone) will be asked first, and then down the line. If an adviser fails to declare a hat color, he will be killed. There are only two hat colors. The advisers will be allowed to meet beforehand to discuss a strategy. What is the most number of people that you can guarantee to save.

It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills.
It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter.
Darkness.

I start off small but quickly quickly spread.
Get too close, and you'll turn red.

It has towns, but no houses. Forests, but no trees. Rivers, but no fish.
It's a map, and if the guy in back gets it wrong, then the one directly in front of him is able to deduce that he got it wrong, do the math on the hats *he* can see, then shout the same colour as the one in the rear. If he gets it wrong, then there is a guarantee on the bloke 3rd in line to get it right (he has now determined the exact colour of the two hats behind him) and so on. So, there is a 98% guarantee (assuming none of them screws up the counting), with a possibility for 100% success.

That is one of the best riddles I've heard in my life. Superb! Where'd you get it from?

My riddle:
I am found by ears, not eyes,
most of the time.
And with a lot of words,
no, I don't rhyme.
People don't have me,
but a person may.
And I'm just not enough
to get a good lay.
What am I?
I got it from the Sphinx riddles in the Heroes of Might and Magic 2.

The answer to yours is 'name'?

The higher I climb, the hotter I engage, I can not escape my crystal cage.
What am I?

This old one runs forever, but never moves at all. He has not lungs nor throat, but still a mighty roaring call. What is it?

With pointed fangs I sit in wait,
With piercing force I dole out fate,
Over bloodless victims proclaiming my might,
Permanently joining by my single bite.
What am I?

You're doing it wrong.
The OBVIOUS solution is to add up the man, the wives, the sacks of cats, the kittens per cat (mentioned in one of the two lines omitted), and yourself--except that riddles are never about the OBVIOUS solution.

It is a trick question and the answer is 1. But if you don't believe me, ask Konami, because I'm pretty sure that riddle shows up in one of the Silent Hill games--and the answer is one there, too. As it is everywhere else in the world where people tell it.

Seriously, man, do you even realize how ubiquitous this riddle is? You can even Google it and almost every result will tell you that the answer is 1, I guarantee it.
You can't give an ambiguously worded riddle and then expect there to be only one answer. Both answers are correct in terms of encompassing all the given evidence. Thus we would need more information to tell the difference between the two situations. I am well aware of the "correct" answer (this riddle was told to me in infant school).

Fifty, the advisor in the back calls out the color of the hat of the guy in front of him and might get killed. The next guy then calls out the color that the guy behind him called out and gets released.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

2)BoFII? What is that?
An acronym :V
Stands for "Breath of Fire II", where one of the riddles Watts tells you is that one--worded precisely as you phrased it, no less, if I recall correctly.
That's pretty cool. I like riddles but I'm not very good at them.

You can save more than that.
