I don't see any signage around here but there are plenty of "Nobama" bumper stickers around town. Personally, while I find politics fascinating I also think that much of what people go on about is an utter waste. People were decrying Obama in my city based on a whole host of irrelevent issues (he MIGHT be a closet muslim - as though that has ANY bearing on his ability and qualification for example), campaigning hard of the Mccain and so forth. It was amazing to me that even late in the election, people around here still thought that McCain was going to pull off a win when neither history nor curent events gave any reasonable person any reason to believe he could.

Usually, when I see someone with something absolute stupid like the things I or the OP have mentioned, I'll usually question them about it. I don't have anything against eitehr side of the equation, but I do hate willful ignorance and outright stupidity. More often than not the sillyness has historically come from the left - these days the right seems to be infected with the idiot virus.

Has this happen in your town? Can anyone please explain what these posters are talking about?
Oh man, I saw the post on 4chan from the guy who made (or atleast told that he made) the first Obama poster with that Joker facepaint.

So as far as I know, 4chan made those. The guy told everyone to print out as much posters as they could and put them up on streets. He also said that if you'd be able to put them up without getting noticed, all the better.

People think Obama is a socialist because they have no idea what socialism really is, or why they are scared of it really. The whole attitude is rather creepy, either the far end right has gone completely nuts or racism has a lot to do with what is going on. Strangest poster I saw was one saying no socialism and no walls, I mean no walls?
Berlin wall. Heard about it? It is probably a reference to that. Socialism is just the american boogeyman. In 20 years you will see poster like - no islam and no veils. Its just propaganda.
That makes no sense at all though. How do you get from socialism is bad to Obama is going to build a wall? Sure I see how the Berlin wall is a link to communism and hence socialism in some peoples minds but going from there to having a sign that just says no walls? Propaganda is meant to get a message across, not just spout things vaguely connected to something you don't like.
It doesn't have to make sense or be clear. It just has to invoke emotions of Patriotism and fear from everything else. Most people remeber the Fall of the Berlin Wall as a great victory over communism, so in the back of the head, everyone would fear another wall. Propaganda can be vague and still get a clear message across. Socialism bad, we don't want another wall like before. Blablabla. Had Obama been born in Alaska, they would accuse him of Russian ancestry.
No propaganda should make sense in at least some form. Just saying no walls is not a clear way of getting a message across and hence fails as propaganda. I am pretty sure they would accuse of of being Russian if some thing else was different, I can see some of the sense there even though even if he was it would not turn out as they think (worst case scenario Joe Biden takes office there is no way any one would even try and reverse Obama's presidency it just would not work). However I digress, good propaganda needs direction as well as emotions or else it does not work. Hell even a picture would have helped it, even if the message it is giving me still is one of confusion.

well do you know EXACTLY what socialism is? WITHOUT GOOGLING IT!
Well yes I do, not sure how I would prove that given we are on the internet and I could have just googled it.
It should, but it doesn't have to. Propaganda, especially propaganda rallies are not ment to let you think, they are ment to confuse and bewilder you. No propaganda wants her target to think about it, else it could question its message. Propaganda is directed at your herd instinct - it follows a specific us vs them formula and it wants you to always chose us, because everyone else will - and everyone who stops and questions the message or publicly states that he doesn't understand the content is labelled unpatriotic, or an outsider. One of them, who can't see the truth, our thruth. Why am I even writing this!?

Look, if you stopped and recognized the message for what it is - a load of crap and/or half-truths - congratulations, you are a smart one and you are now on the government list for depopulation - if you didn't, well then you are either to young or indifferent to understand. Also, I advise you to google WWII propaganda posters, you'll see what I mean. Also, Soviet posters rock!

This was originally grassroots but Alex Jones has gone crazy with it, making his own posters (using the original image), and T-Shirts.

There are some good propaganda posters, remember a whole load of ww1 posters from when I studied if but that was a while ago. The problem I have with no walls is it makes me stop and think, it is not the most obvious connection in the world and when I think about it more it confuses me more (I mean what reason would Obama have for building a wall like that and where?) I also think you are giving the guy behind the poster more credit than he is due, it seems his thought process was socialism is bad and the Berlin wall was bad so lets write it down.

That's nice? Really I don't think socialism in its purist sense could work, however the same can be said for capitalism so really how nice for you.

The whole change is what he's going to do i.e. free healthcare and the economy
Nothing is free. Nothing in the entire history of mankind has ever been free. There are always strings attached. The money to support public healthcare has to come from somewhere, and judging by past trends and the vagueness of intent, it will more than likely mean a not insignificant increase in taxes.
Well, it'll still be better than having people die because they can't afford the insurance. It'll be cheaper with the tax increase than what it is now. Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than the US does, because it pours money into healthcare for everyone rather than, say nuclear weapons.

People think Obama is socialist because he is actually exercising his presidential powers.

As for the swine flu posters, all I can say is that a conspiracy is all around us! Swine flu is obviously caused by a galatic organization called the None Human Killers, also known as the NHK!
I thought people accused Obama of socialism because of the whole government ran health care thing.

eh personally i don't think any form of government is perfect. the only thing that makes a type of government good or bad is that governments leaders.

Only socialism is an economic system not a form of government.

It always amazes me how involved US citizens seem to get with their politics, for some reason in the UK everyone just bitches about it but nobody would take the time to create posters showing their opinions or anything.

The posters may be stupid, but at least people give a damn I suppose.
You're kidding, right? Presidential election is pretty much a beauty pageant. Their political ideas dont matter. Its the black guy vs the republican vs the chick. Ask an american whats the difference between Obama's and McCain's political positions. The likely answer will be: "ones a democrat and the other is a republican". Nobody gives a f... about their political programme.

And just to be clear, the posters are there cause he's black.

Live with it and shut the fuck up.
This is also a terrible attitude because without the people speaking up, there wouldn't be a country like we are living in today.
That's true, but until he actually does something terrible (like exterminate people) or induce curfews or take away our rights (which Bush had done more than Obama) then I will stand by my opinion. I'm not grabbing my torch and pitchfork unless shit is going down.

Shhhh. We need to keep the secrets... secret. I mean, if they don't know that everything people have been ranting about don't fit on a left to right continuum, they might, I don't know- Learn something.

And educated, intelligent people are a threat to our authority!

Was it possibly this one

People have an opinion and they show it, they should at least respect the man who is running their county.
I saw a sticker that looked just like that, except it just said "fascist" underneath. Also just today I saw these guys on the street with a sign with Obama's picture on it, and he had a Hitler 'stache, and george bush was controlling him with puppet strings. The most rediculous part of this all is that I'm not even in America! I saw this crap in Montreal, Quebec!
