He's hardly in the movies from what I remember, but the X-Wing series is (in my opinion) the best thing the EU ever gave us due to their Top Gun esque sense of fun and excitement and admirable restraint in not using Superweapons as plot points again and again (mostly).
wow remember reading the books ages ago when I was still growing up, yeah guess I'm a fan. But must put out a notable mention to Admiral Thrawn as well.

Back when I was a little kid and played Rogue Squadron, before I even had any idea there was anything else in the Star Wars universe, Wedge was my favorite character. He's stayed at that lofty post to this day.
Wedge is pretty cool, but I'm a serious Corran Horn fan. A Jedi, a detective, and a pilot?

Wedge is cool, but even so Chewbacca gets the nod. I mean, I won't be alone in that so this isn't rare. But in the EU
But, I have to admit, Wedge was really friggin' awesome. I'm sure most of the Rebels on the Death Star 2's run had to be new, rare to find veterans of the first run, and for Wedge to survive two? Damn right he needs props.

I'm not a massive fan, but he was pretty cool. I read a few of the Rogue Squadron books, which weren't bad.

Then he does get the training to get back his wife, but he can't manipulate objects but can manipulate minds! Dude knows how to fight, love, and admit when he makes a mess of things and owns up. Favorite female character is his wife BTW.
