Title says it all...

I'm tired of the generic music that fills anywhere. I for that I mean music from people/bands/genres that, well feel generic (Linking Park, Skillet, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc). So I've done with them. I wonder if you knew any indie band which not so many people know about it.
I only know one, which is ZXYZXY. They actually make some good songs if you can tolerate a Marylin Manson inspired instrumental song.

Anyway, which are you recommendations?

Not sure how popular they may be, but I loves me some Coheed and Cambria.

EDIT: Oh, forgot Jonathon Coulton. He's awesome. He wrote Still Alive, you know. Once again, not sure how well known he may be.

Brokencyde, also Vampire weekend i strongly recommend.
Reverand and the makers, Kids in glass houses, Motion City Soundtrack (just got home from seeing them in concert. Truely amazing.), Cancer bats, Say Anything and the Mystery Jets.
To name a few of the bands i'm listening to at the minute.

Interpol, The Fratellis, Muse, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, Silversun Pickups, and (even though they're all old) Depeche Mode, The Cure, New Order, and Joy Division.

Also, avoid brokeNYCDE if you don't like screamo crossbred with rap.

I was just listening to their Music for the Masses album :D But they're hardly indie.

OT; Arcade Fire (I recommend Funeral)
Supergrass (Get everything they've ever done. They're amazing)
BMX Bandits (get Life Goes On)
Teenage Fanclub (Grand Prix is their best)
Sloan (once again, get everything of theirs.)

I'll edit more in as I think of them

Since you've got me thinking of it, that'll be my recommendation: Ben Kweller's debut solo album, it's called 'Sha Sha' and it's all sorts of excellent. You can hear 10 out of the 12 tracks on last.fm (including the one that the guy quoted couldn't find :p) - my favourites are 'Make It Up' and 'Wasted & Ready', if you're looking for specific recommendations.

EDIT: it'd probably be useful if I remembered to put in the last.fm link...

Someone else who knows of Arcade Fire? You sir have just won my respect!
Arcade Fire are a multiple award winning, Platinum selling, high-charting band... and you're surprised when someone else has heard of them?

They are rarely discussed here, plus if anyone ever mentions music I listen to I tend to get excited.
