i was just reading about the new zelda sword game coming out, and it hit me... that's an exciting event to so many gamers, and i couldn't care less about anything zelda whatsoever. i never got into the series (yes i've played it) and cant imagine ever getting it. that's not to say its a bad game though.

anyways, it got me thinking, what major gaming franchises have you never gotten into? why?

I wish that I had gotten into mass effect when it came out. now I just feel out of the loop and I don't feel like playing 2 80 hour games to catch up.

In agreement with Zelda, but also Final Fantasy, Call of duty, Halo, (actually any "realistic"-war-shooter), and Gears of War (almost typed Metal Gear for a moment). I either played em and didn't have an interest or I've seen em and never wanted to try playing them.

COD, mainly because I don't much care for FPSes.
Final Fantasy, mainly because I don't care for JRPGs.

It won't stop me from talking out of my ass and badmouthing those franchises, that I've had limited experience with, in an attempt to appear cool though.
Hey, at least I'm honest.

Oh and Guitar Hero, mainly because I suck at it and also because I have Rock Band instead and Rock Band has the drums and singing which I suck less at, I know Guitar Hero has those things now too, but I don't feel much of a need to own more than one of those types of games.

Mass Effect. Played the first one and didn't care for it at all. Not interested in the second one or the upcoming third.

Final Fantasy. I'm not into JRPG's though.

Oh and Metal Gear Solid. Never played any of them.

I'm hoping you've at least tried the games themselves rather than just dismissing them as another in a genre you haven't had much luck with in the past.

On topic: I don't think I've ever actually played a Doom game, but it might simply be a case of after-my-time.

Halo
(played 3, ODST, and Reach still because Reach was coming and I thought they might be good. Not really a fan)

Modern Warfare or Infinty Ward CoDs
(played MW2. People say MW1 is better, but MW2 was supposed to be great to start off with. Like WaW and BO though.)

Final Fantasy
(played 10. alright. played 11. sucked. played 13, sucked and way too long.)

F.E.A.R.
(just not my thing. Plus Im not really a fan of having nude teenage girls in my games.)

Metal Gear
(played 4, it was cool. Just suck at sneaking games.)

Fable
(played 2. Really boring. end seemed sudden. Didn't really even like basic gameplay functions.)

My friend was playing Final Fantasy XIII and it looked like junk. I played it for about an hour and I didn't like the art style, the game play, the story or the world. I've never played a JRPG I even moderately enjoyed.

Again, I'm hoping you've played other Final Fantasies besides XIII, which has split the fanbase wider than the Grand Canyon.

It's fine saying you haven't enjoyed any of the JRPGs you've played, I'm assuming there's a reasonable number that you haven't. You can only logically say that you haven't enjoyed any JRPGs you've played yet and could make an educated guess that you might not enjoy others, but the only way to determine this is to play them, you can't dismiss the entire genre out of hand.

Left for Dead, Resident evil, and Silent Hill all come to mind... As you can see; I'm not a big fan of the horror genre.

I've played two of the PlayStation 2. The most recent one I believe it was XII. I didn't like them either.

Yep. I've played a fair few.

What? You are acting like I have slagged off JRPG's when this:

was the only comment I made. Would you of reacted this way if I said that I wasn't into Chinese food?

"Kortney, you cannot logically say you don't like Chinese food unless you have eaten every dish!"

Yeah, that makes no sense. I've given JRPGs a shot and every single one has either put me to sleep or frustrated me. This seems to happen very often when someone on the forums expresses they don't enjoy JRPGs. Someone rushes in and automatically assumes I am being unreasonable and that I have to play more of them. Nope, that's not the case. I just plain don't like them.

The total war games seemed to pass me by, I tried a few demos over the years, medival, rome, empire but always found them a little too slow, almost tedious and far too tactical for my tastes... but then my taste in strategy games is the C&C style, spam units till you have more than the other guy and win. I couldnt handle all the thoughts of terain, attack angles, battle strategies, pincer movements etc etc etc. but some people love that, s'what makes us all different.

Teenager? she was twenty six when she died. Why did I feel the need to point that out.

OT: Any RTS, just not my style, and Bioshock.

Let's see...
HALO
CoD
Those are the two that are on the top of my head. Dunno... I'm too tired to come up with any witty criticism other than they just never interested me and looked very generic and copy/paste.

Halo, CoD, and Mass Effect. I like FPS games, but not a whole lot - it's been forever since I even played TF2.

I've also never really gotten into the Final Fantasy series, partially because most JRPGs don't impress me and also because turn-based combat is annoying.

Final Fantasy. I adore RPG's, I do. I have just hated almost every single one of these. The art and cutscenes, beautiful and I will never deny them that. The battle style and... well... everything else. Junk. /sigh

Halo. I'm not a huge fan of these games but I never really knew why. Course I only played the first one. Just never felt the need to go back.
