IT crowd is great, but I'm pretty sure it's not from BBC, but from Channel 4. I might be wrong though.

I haven't seen any of the new BBC shows, but I still remember Coupling as outrageously funny (after all, the show extended my, and my friends', vocabulary with expressions like "giggle loop", "Melty Man", "Nudity Buffer" and of course the dreaded "Sock Gap" ^^).
Smack The Pony was great too, although it's a lot better when watched drunk.

I T Crowd, mostly. Merlin's alright (Thank you, Anthony Stewart Head, for being alive!), never been a huge fan of the Doctor, but hes growing on me. I'm also glad that [adult swim] managed to pick up Mighty Boosh, although it would be nice if they didn't pop back and forth from series 1 to series 3 and then an episode from series 2 . . . there's precious little continuity in that show as it is. Of course, I grew up on "Monty Python" & "Fawlty Towers" & "Are you being served?" so my opinion may be somewhat skewed.
Thank the almighty internets for letting us Americans watch something other than the abomination that is current U.S. TV programming.
Brit here...I love things like 30 Rock, and Metalocalypse, that only America could create.

Does anyone recall a show about an upscale retail store that sold a collection of things, think 'British Walmart, before there was a Walmart'.

One of the characters was a 'queer but not homosexual', blond guy.

The boss was a bald pervert.

There was a gentlemen like guy who sold ties and had a William Shakespeare like facial hair.

Any ideas?

Absolutely. I'm Australian, but our TV is nothing when compared to stuff like Blackadder, Green Wing, Black Books, The Inbetweeners, The I.T Crowd, and of course, the greatest television programme ever devised, Yes Minister.

Mock The Week,
'Allo 'Allo!
The Planman.

Some I grew up on, others I discovered (and rediscovered) later (Thank the god I can' imagine exist for my parents good taste and good sense of humour, and good sense in general to expose me to so many great shows.)

I know I have left out many many other shows I just can't remember the name off, and I have come up empty googling for the names.

So yeah... There are fans of British shows outside of Great Britain ;)

Edit: Hell's bell's and buckets of blood I forgot a ton of shows, that is corrected now
Edit 2.0: I just realised I forgot what the tread were about... it were NOT british shows.. But specifically BBC shows... /facepalm... I don't know what channel showed/shows what series.

I'm American, although I lived in England for a while, so yes. I'm quite fond of Doctor Who, and Blackadder. Haven't really seen anything other than that.

If you ever wanted a classic contemporary british comedy (not BBC produced) it's the Inbetweeners.

Rarely has school been portrayed so brutally truthfully (and hilariously)

Infact, another that Non-Brits should DEFINITLY see is "Peep Show" (no, nothing about strippers or peeping. Its called that because of its voyueristic 1st person camera perspective on the daily lives of two no hopers living in london)

Peep Show is seriously hilarious after you start getting into it. Again, another Channel 4 show.

It's sad the BBC doesnt dare be as ...um....daring as that with comedy anymore (Inbetweeners and Peep Show are both Channel 4 shows).

And yeah, TopGear... Captain Slow 4tw! :)

I absolutely love Ashes to Ashes and Spooks. It's killing me right now that season 9 of Spooks is on in Britain but we can't get it here in Canada yet. Also, does anyone know how I can get Ashes to Ashes on DVD in Canada?

I'm a fan of Top Gear.

Some say that the Stig once came across the fountain of youth, but didn't drink from it because he wasn't thirsty.

I agree with Peep Show...Not with The Inbetweeners, for me it was utter crap.

And obviously Top Gear is great...Like many other British shows! :D

My God I love BBC. The movies in particular are fantastic, but I genuinely love most of the comedies besides the obvious Monty Pythons. Just curious though, is MI-5 an American television show or is that BBC too? Because I enjoy that show quite a lot as well.
