I was wondering if any one on here watches Doctor Who and lives abroad and more particularly what your perspective is on the Smith veres Tennant debate and Stephen Moffat's series vs Russel T Davis' series?

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I just re-watched The Pirate Planet this evening. And I have a season 12 scarf. So, yes, I'd call myself a Doctor Who fan.

Doctor Who developed a fairly sizable following in the US. In fact, there's a Doctor Who-themed convention coming up in Los Angeles on 18 February -- Gallifrey One [http://www.gallifreyone.com/].

As for the New Who, Smith is too new for me to form a reasonable opinion. I think he's a decent actor, but there's something uneven about his tenure so far; can't quite articulate it. Tennant, on the other hand, I very much liked.

On the debates.... I really am too full of snot and cold medicine to post a vaild opinion that I will be able to defend tomorow, but I like smith

Australian Doctor Who fan here.

I don't really buy into the Tennant vs Smith debate. They both bring some really great traits to the character, so I like them both. For the record, I also liked Christopher Eccleston.

Well, I'm not sure if I qualify as a 'fan', but I certainly like the new series; however, I've never watched the old one, and I've been so busy with my studies I'm still stuck at the beginning of season 4, so I don't know Smith yet.

Doctor Who isn't that big a hit over here, but the average German's taste in television is a load of crap anyway.

EDIT: What I can say is that I liked Christopher Eccleston better than David Tennant.

Australia! Fuck yeah! My favourite Doctor overall has to be Tom Baker, but in the new series I'm with Tennant.

Canadian. Came into the series on the last episode of Christopher Eccleston and watched all of David Tennant's time as the Doctor. Tennant is, and always will be, my doctor. And that's all I have to say about that. To all the other Tennant fans out there...Allons-y!

Got one here, I started watching it because I heard it was amazing, I finished the entire series over the course of about a month (newest series not the old stuff). It's fantastic, every time they changed The Doctor I get really nervous but I've loved all three that I've seen

Edit: Oh, and the Weeping Angels episode was one of the most brilliantly written episodes of a TV show I've ever seen

I'm a Romanian and I love Dr. Who! I've never watched the old series though, only from 2005 to the present. I think Tennant is the most charming and consistent doctor but I don't dislike Smith's performance, I just think the last season wasn't scripted as well. And yes, bow-ties are coool

Dutch Dr. Who fan here! Just the newer episodes though. I started somewhere in the middle of season 29, the episode 'Blink'.
Never heard of dr. Who before that, so it took a few episodes before I really understood most of it.
I now watch it occasionally, when I'm in the mood.

I am a big Canadian fan, My aunt who grew up with the show introduced my sister, my sister introduced me, and now I am a big BBC fan, not just Dr. Who.
I don't really like the pre-2005 episodes though, good story can only get a show so far in my books.

^ Pretty much exactly this.

Except I wouldn't shorten "Doctor" to "Dr", because that's how I am. And I'd only say it's one of my favorite shows, since I'm really bad at ranking things.
