Alabasta was a MASSIVE plot arc.. but when it was over, the party weren't like... invincible gods (cough, dbz, cough) and so when further things happened after that, it was still fun to watch.
It just seems like the stories are much more interesting than ones for other shows. They don't pretend their characters are deep either. (Haha, Bleach).
I agree (though not on the only anime), what I love about One Piece is that while they get stronger their is always places to improve.
I stopped reading Naruto (though sort of need to catch up) and gave up on Bleach. I agree with you, in Naruto/Bleach after each arcs (more so for bleach) that the characters are these awesome god-like beings and then suddenly another powerful villian comes. It just feels cheap sort of.
In One Piece, you know even before that their is a lot of strong people. I sort of explained it kind of wierd but I think got it off...
