It's alright, I guess. I guess it would be a lot more troublesome if my culture were any more hung up with gender issues than it is now, but thanks to relatively strong Lutheran ideas (which bring a set of problems on their own on other areas) have worked in my favour. Since Finns are so obsessed with work and haven't had the luxury to be picky about whether a worker has tits or balls or whatever long as things get done, people don't bother to ask about things like these a lot, haha.

Hard question to answer. What's it like to be you? Everyone has hobbies and aspirations that define them, just imagine having a controversial living situation to wrap that all in. Sometimes it's business as usual, sometimes it's hell. Just depends on the day and the situation I suppose.

Apparently there's enough of a presence that a group was formed. I'm too lazy to find a link, but try searching under T.

This is a rather unusual thread. I don't know any tran, Bi, or flaming, les, asexual or any variation. I'm surprised there are so many terms that aren't even logged in a common survey just what are happening to people's genders and sexual orientations these days?

I don't know, it seems like the German language came in with its neutral nouns and just dumped them all over everybody and said: "Ich bin fertig!"

Any transsexuals here? Or transgenders? Do you happen to at least know a person who's trans? I figured that since the community at The Escapist is so lively, there might be some. If there aren't any, I guess this thread could double as an "Ask a transgender anything" thread, I dunno.

Anyway, I'm transgender. I'm neutrois, which means my gender identity is that belonging to neither man or woman and that I wish to lose the physical traits of my biological sex. I'm not sure if it's going to be a possibility for me in my country, but one can only hope.

Last summer, I had the honour of meeting another transgendered person IRL for the first time and talking about gender issues with them. It was just... awesome. I've also met some transsexuals and they've been very inspiring people to me.
*Spews my tea* o_O.... well I'll be damned.. I mean um wow. I've never heard this question asked aloud like so, but um....well Bravo?

I myself am Metrosexual (Has style with a few fruity tendencies but totally loves nothing but women) but interesting indeed.

Asexual??? Damn, I was hoping to meet someone like that...
Why, hello there.

Uh, you DO know what asexual IS, right? You seem a little too intrigued...

I'm bisexual (almost as rare as transes i reckon), everyone I know is either in the closet or straight, which is starting to piss me off.
Also, I'm near-certain my dad is VERY homophobic, so I'm gonna try to avoid coming out to him for as long as I can :/

Transes are kuul :3

I have always been fascinated with transgendered people and I would love to ask a few questions!

do you primarily have male or female friends?

have you had any serious partners? if yes, were they trans gender too?

do you see hetero relationships as foreign? (that's how i see homosexual relations, not because i am prejudice, but because I could never see myself with another man)

does being transgenders make for incredibly awkward social situations?

Sorry for all the questions but I have never met a transsexual before.

I am glad to see some people who have a more profound understanding of themselves than I do. I do struggle with some gender issues now and again, but I tend to blame society and its stereotypes. Much respect for you.

I primarily have female friends, which is not only because I used to have an aversion towards males my age thanks to bullying, but also because the line of work I'm studying for is female-dominated. Out of 47 people who started studying the same time as I did, only nine were male, so yeah... I regret not having made more male friends while I was younger, because most of my old male classmates have proven to be nice and interesting people when I've met them later.

I haven't had serious partners and thanks to me being aromantic asexual, I'm not planning to get one. I try to remain open-minded though -- sexuality isn't a rigid thing so who knows what happens in the future. For example, one of my aunts met her first love at the ripe age of 52 and is currently a happily married 60-year-old...

As for hetero relationships, I guess they're pretty foreign to me in the sense that I observe them as an outsider. I mean, I know how they function, but I can't draw anything from personal experiences. I have never experienced attraction or lust so I can't really relate to any of my friends when they gush about the high points of their relationship, for example.

Awkwardness isn't an issue for me as it seems to be for people who I socialise with. Deep down I'm a chill, vulgar brute with no shame, so I usually have to hold myself back if I don't want to weird people out too much. I have learned to give off a sufficient air of normalcy when I know people are going to be inconvenienced or put off by me being a queer slob. Whatever works for my advantage.

In general, I get along with people just fine and I enjoy interacting with people. I especially like old people, which I guess is a bit odd considering that I'm aspiring to become a youth worker.

EDIT:

I'm sure things will work themselves out for you. Much like rest of the human body, a person's identity strives for self-sustenance and is constantly renewing parts of itself : )

My best friend is a lesbian, her girlfriend works as a dragking at a local gay bar.

I've met a wide spectrum of people.

Including a one or two trans. I think it's given me a deeper outlook on the nature of gender and sex. I've never liked the term transsexual though, as following the logic of heterosexual, bisexual, and homosexual, then transsexual would mean a person were attracted to transgendered people.

Anyway, question: What's your goal in regards to being transgendered?

Oh gosh, a dragking. People are always talking about dragqueens, but you rarely hear about dragkings. I guess it's because it's socially more acceptable for a woman to dress like a man than the other way round. I mean, despite me being biologically a woman and as such have a female voice, people hardly ever even do a double take when I'm dressing in a particularly masculine way and I speak up, but if I were a guy and wore even one particularly feminine piece of clothing, like a skirt...

My goal as a transgendered person... I guess my main goal is to promote and deeper and wider understanding of gender and sexuality in general, not just transsexuals and transgenders. I don't think some of the current norms concerning gender and sexuality are particularly healthy for anyone, not even the most typically gendered people. I want all people to be able to express their gender identity more freely.

Also, I want to be able to get the body I feel I should have. I'm definitely going to become less curvy by losing weight and hopefully I can do something about the existence of my boobs in the future. Getting something done about my reproductive organs would be nice too, but I'm not counting on it.

Greetings!

I am a Transexual MtF, and the creator of the [a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Transgenders-of-Escapist]Transgenders of Escapist[/a] group, currently at 18 members.
I know that there are even more so but they may or may not want to join it because of many different and varied reasons.
I've been planning to make a group open to the public of Escapist so that more could be informed about what Trans-people are since there is a lot of hate for us on this page, a suprising amount even. Which is why a poster in this thread even commented;
"Suprised this haven't turned into a flame war yet".

So yes, we most certainly are around.

PS. I shall make my plans I mentioned here within two hours.
You're plotting something? Heh, that sounds almost a bit ominous. Anyway, it's good to know such a group exists.

...damn I want to ask you guys so many questions but I don't think that's appropriate...
But... is it 'guys', or 'girls'?

On a serious topic however, what is it like? Having no sexual preference what so ever?

Yo.

MTF, currently working on the nerve to actually go through the process of taking hormones and the like.

I'll throw my hat in the ring, too, if you're looking for general answers (As opposed to specifics on neutrois).

Also, didn't know there was a trans group on here. So so joining.

Well, it's hard to describe a lack of something. When I try to imagine how sexual attraction feels, it's like trying to imagine what childbirth or a kick in the balls feels like. I have never given birth to a child and I don't have balls so... I can only make assumptions based on what I've learned about other people.

I also haven't experienced arousal, so for example seeing a sex scene in a movie feels the same as watching a couple of walruses boinking each other in an animal documentary. ... Replace walruses with something you don't find erotic if you by some incredible chance are into that sort of thing.

I know you're kidding and all but the term "guys" has largely lost its meaning as a gender-specific term. I know a lot of women who say guys when referring to themselves or other women without so much as a thought.

Shortly put;

Being TS is pain. A different amount of pain depending on where you live and if anyone supports you.
But the reward for going against everyone who doesn't support you and all that is so rewarding.

I think I'd put it something like that.
I have trouble looking at it as rewarding, myself. It's a lot of work, effort, pain and struggle just to get, essentially, what everyone else already has. I hate to sound like a downer, but, well, I probably do anyway. There's a reason people don't ask me to do motivaational speaking.
