It's why I haven't picked up my reserved copy yet. It looks like more of the same, except less refined and without any meaningful storytelling or context for the atmosphere.
There is a level where your walking around a an amusement park, you go to each static Andrew Ryan exhibit and press the button and he spouts off some propaganda at you.
That's what the entire game feels like, Its less a cinematic interactive experience and just wondering around Rapture, stopping every 5 minutes to have a convoluted story spoken to you which is mostly disconnected from the environment.
In BioShock, I felt like I was exploring Rapture and that every tape deck I found was a little step closer to understanding what was going on.
In BioShock 2 I feel like I am on rails at a talking museum exhibit with a tour guide reading me a book that has little to do with the exhibits were stopped at.
The game feels disconnected, and while I may have disagreed Pre-Launch, I think I now have to agree with all the people who said "BioShock did not need a sequel."
All the mystery is gone, all the surprise and discovery is gone. It's a pretty shell but sadly disappointing and empty.
