Eh, I'll pick it up once it's down to 20 bucks. Yes, it does look as good as the first one, but it doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table, and for the moment it looks like I'll have enough stuff to keep me entertained a while. Right now it's exams week at my uni, but once I'm done with that I'll play the hell out of AvP. ^^

Amnesia?
You don't have amnesia, in either game. And even if you did it's a good literary tool it's useful and allows for a good narritive.

Moral system not fixed?
Don't make comments about games you haven't played or you'll just end up being wrong. Like now.

You wasted time on MULTIPLAYER?
The multiplayer was made by a different team. It has no impact on the singleplayer.

If developers don't intend to improve the core gameplay or add anything new and interesting, then they should not bother making a sequel.
But that's not waht happened with Bioshock 2, the gameplay has been improved. It just hasn't been significantly altered.

I really don't see how people are dissapointed with Bioshock 2. It's the first games with better gameplay new levels and a new story, what were people expecting?

I bought it the day it came out and I'll admit I was a tad worried when I started playing. One of the best parts about the original Bioshock was descending into Rapture the first time. The big reveal of the city itself could go down in history as an iconic moment in gaming. Bioshock 2 didn't have the luxury of the unknown and so they had to try something different.

I thought the game was just good up until we got nearly to the end. It was the confrontation with Eleanor and the scenes after that that made me believe this game could stand beside its predecessor. Basically the game did something interesting in that it got better as it progressed and had an ending that was more then satisfactory rather then leaving it on some BS cliffhanger like so many games seem to do nowadays.

DRM every ****ing where?

I haven't bothered buying, I'll maybe pick it up in a bargain bin later one when the DRM is patched out.
DRM... one of the stupidest ideas in the history of stupid.

It actually encourages piracy.

I'm buying this game today, and my GF is going to sit beside me and watch (more likely read a book) but anyway, I loved the first one for it's atmosphere and story telling, but not at all for the gunplay. I heard this one has a more refined weapon system so I'm looking forward to it. And of course it's not going to be all new... it's Rapture, the same place as the first one... What I like about sequels is the developers get a chance to fine tune all the slight mess ups from their first attempt. Hence why I love Assassin's Creed 2, but AC1 I played for all of 10 minutes at a friend's house without much interest.

I couldent give a shit what anyone says, i beat the story and am replaying through it one more time, and the multiplayer is actually very fun and it works out.
And i actually love Sinclair, he is such a good character to me personally.
So yes, i find it worth the money since it does have a good story and good character development, and fun multiplayer.

The multiplayer leaves a lot to be desired, and the singel player could have been longer by another hour or so, but i had a lot of fun with it.

Woah, from the sounds of things I'm glad I saved my money for Heavy Rain. I was going to buy it but it looked a little derivative and didn't have the same spark as the original.

It's why I haven't picked up my reserved copy yet. It looks like more of the same, except less refined and without any meaningful storytelling or context for the atmosphere.
There is a level where your walking around a an amusement park, you go to each static Andrew Ryan exhibit and press the button and he spouts off some propaganda at you.

That's what the entire game feels like, Its less a cinematic interactive experience and just wondering around Rapture, stopping every 5 minutes to have a convoluted story spoken to you which is mostly disconnected from the environment.

In BioShock, I felt like I was exploring Rapture and that every tape deck I found was a little step closer to understanding what was going on.

In BioShock 2 I feel like I am on rails at a talking museum exhibit with a tour guide reading me a book that has little to do with the exhibits were stopped at.

The game feels disconnected, and while I may have disagreed Pre-Launch, I think I now have to agree with all the people who said "BioShock did not need a sequel."

All the mystery is gone, all the surprise and discovery is gone. It's a pretty shell but sadly disappointing and empty.

I thought it was a great game but I agree, it felt like it was just an add-on pack for the first one. It was so damn short that even playing it in the medium difficulty I died only like 4 times and completed it in a few hours >.>

Ending was good though.

*sigh* I wish I could have this game. I really wished I have the money for this. I don't know why people say it's bad because it's so like the first game. Don't people normally get super upset if gameplay, arcitecture and story change too much?

I more-or-less felt the same way right up until the end. It's almost a mirror-image of Bioshock, in that the last half-hour is it's redeeming feature rather than the biggest let-down.

The combat is a bit dull though, as the vast amount of fighting takes place in the Gathers (if you do them all), which can get insanely repetitive, essentially reducing normal every-day exploration into fly-swatting compared to the Gather Battles.

It's only disappointing if you compare it to the original Bioshock. The story just isn't as good. As it's own game however, it's very enjoyable.

Try to judge games on their own merits people, not the merits of those before.

Did ou pay any levels beyond that one? Because 2 was more freeroam exploration based than the first one both in terms of plot and in terms of gameplay.

I sort of put it down again and have been discouraged to continue. It just doesn't feel like my Rapture.

However if people are saying the game gets better, I may give it a try.
