The reapers attack earth, not because it's most imporetent place to attack, as some people have assumed, but because it's the next closest mass relay. They were coming up from the south... east? If you look, the Alpha Relay, at the very southeastern edge, the one we distroyed.... the next closet relay is ours.Xerosch said:I hate the fact that Sheppard is supposed to rescue earth. I mean, how many times did you rescue earth from an invading alien race in games? The universe of Mass Effect is so vast and well developed and then this? I think it would be far more interesting if earth was in fact destroyed within the first three hours of the game.
*begin rampent speculation!*
The game starts with them arriving at Earth. It'll more or less be there beachhead. Where the fight *starts*. Keep in mind what the reapers seem to do. They don't just "wipe out" life, they more or less assimalate it into new reapers... that takes time... so they'll prolly be at earth, the bulk of the forces that is, for a while. Which just happens to be shepards home, so of course he's got a vested intrest in saving it. And by stoping the reapers at earth... he WILL save the rest of the galixie. Which will prolly be his rallying cry for everyone to chip in and help.
It's not as much a "save earth" story as people make it out to be, or i should say, it doesn't have to be. (again, just wild speculation, based on what i know from the ME games/books/comic/ and codexes... i'm an info junkie...)
