Nah, I just give them a smile and carry on with my day.

Funnily enough, I have been in trouble with them before, nothing serious, but being nice to coppers makes a surprising difference.

Not really. I don't do anything that would cause me to get pulled over.
When I'm driving, I go five over in 35mph and up zones, and I think I drive safely.
And just walking around, I know I'm fine.
The generally accepted rule is that you can typically go 8 miles over the speed limit without getting pulled over, since cops base how much they fine you for speeding tickets by how much over the speed limit you were going. And at 8 mph over, that usually isn't enough for the officer to care. The obvious exception, of course, is when they are near quota time (where I'm from, that's the third week of every month), in which case, 5 mph over is the safer option.

OT: I used to, but experience eventually taught me what behaviors indicate whether a cop is going to pull me over or not. Especially since everyone in my town (cops included) tend to be notorious tailgaters, so if I've been speeding and the cop behind me is a fair distance away, I know I'm about to see flashing lights and $150 disappear very quickly. If they're on my tail, then I'm in the clear.

Oh I hate coming across the police .. I can't help but act suspicious. If they happen to be behind me when I'm driving I'll find the first place to pull over and pretend I'm answering the phone or looking for something in the glove box, just to make sure they aren't following me.

I also tend to stare at their utility belt to see what kind of equipment they have.

Every time I'm in the car with someone and they see the police car, they hit the breaks and scream for us to put our seatbelts on. I'm not that paranoid about it, but since I don't drive my opinion is invalid so far.

I'm more concerned about getting tazed, they do go a bit overboard with tazers every now and then. There is also the urge to ram them, curse you GTA.

I get the urge to grab a rifle and snipe the tires of their cars, or pour thumb tacks in front of the parking meter checkers lot.

I don't like cops never had though thats mostly family thing. Its not like were all criminals or anything its just that police and any one really with authority soon begins to hate us. Or maybe I'm paranoid. Either way its safer not to trust them and just stay out of their way.

The job of a policeman/women is not to stop crimes or catch criminals, its to harass everyday citizens for pesky laws that turn into income for the city/county/state.

I speed a LOT, but I have never had a car accident and I'm a very skilled driver...leave me alone cops.

i got arrested a couple of times as a teenager but was never charged with anything, so yes i don't particularly like the police, especially riot police whose only job it is to beat people who protest something and who are not able to tell the difference between a cobblestone and a chestnut.

No, because I haven't done anything wrong and know I'm not in trouble.
I do, however, think someone nearby is in trouble.

No. Although topic seems to mainly be talking about driving in which case.

I'll be starting to drive in just under a month. But, for a man at least, I'm very short. About 5 foot 3. I live in a moderatley rural area and it's not uncommon to hear of people around 14/15 driving cars thinking that they can get off with it. I've got a feeling I'm going to be pulled over for being too short more than once.

It's a common reaction. Most people, on seeing a police officer (or even a similar uniform), automatically go through a mental checklist of things they've done wrong lately.
But should that be the reaction? I mean if a cop wanted to they can find someway to ticket you. That should not be legal. I feel that it decreases the effectiveness and legitimacy of the police if they are allowed to ticket you for infractions that do not endangear anyone (ie talking on the cellphone, seriously $1000 ticket for that ?fuck that)
Bad example because it severely increases the chance of an accident, but I see the point that an officer could find a reason to ticket you. The dash cam however is a check on their ability to do that.
Actually studies show that talking on a cell phone does absolutely nothing. It's basically makes it illegal for one armed people to talk in the car. Texting on the other hand is a completely different thing.
No. Both are dangerous, yes texting is worse, and you will most likley not get into a crash on the phone. But it can happen, you should see my mom.

OT: Yes, but i usually have a reason.
Some people can't do it true but that should not criminalize those who can nor should it be a $1000 dollar infraction when the fact is you can be just as distracted by hands free driving based on the content of your discussion. Billboards are legal but they can distract you as much as cellphones. Also data showing that cell phone laws reduce accidents are irrelevant as they are going down across all states not just states with cell phone laws.
Everyone thinks they can and no one is as good at driving as they claim.

If it is illegal to talk on your phone than it should be illegal to drink or talk while driving if that isn't neither should talking on your cellphone. This is purely a revenue grab.
