Anyone else feel like when they see a cop they are going to get a ticket for something

Of course, I NEVER speed EVER, so that probably helps me feel calm around police.

The job of a policeman/women is not to stop crimes or catch criminals, its to harass everyday citizens for pesky laws that turn into income for the city/county/state.

1. Actually, they don't harass anyone. Harassment is annoying someone who did nothing to deserve it, that's not their job.

2. What's wrong with income? Income is good, and takes advantage of people who don't give a rip about the law.

3. No, you slow down. The cops have every right to pull you over for speeding, for all they know you're the world's worst driver with the best luck.

You know what causes accidents? People who drive too slowly and frustrate others, the speeders rarely cause accidents unless they are really careless and or reckless.

So long as you don't break the law and you have everything set right in your vechile. Though police are a very good source to letting me know when my rear lights are out those are a pain to check on your own. Also Even when they do pull me over for something just be polite alot of yes sir/mam no sir/mam and it all works out. And Trust me I would know weaseled out of a reckless driving charge about a year ago.

And no, the slow drivers are NOT the cause of the accidents, it's the people who get frustrated. You're piloting a big chunk of metal that still going at least 50 km/h, there's no need to start driving aggressively. Taking an extra five minutes to get wherever you're going can be a good way to unwind a bit.

I used to. Nowdays cops are really quite nice to me once they realize I work security. Not the same job/level of expertise by ANY means, but I suppose it's a "brothers in arms" kind of thing in a manner of speaking.

Ha, I scoff at your fear of tickets. I used to live in Nogales, Mexico, where the 'cops' were actually ski masked military personnel in unmarked 50 cal. toting techincals. I get looked at by one of them and have a mini heart attack.

There is a sign I see on the road, it says "Slower Traffic Keep Right". If I'm in the "slow lane", I'm cool, I'm there to turn or in a mood to drive slowly. However, if its 1 AM and the road is nearly empty, I'm in the "Fast Lane" and going like, 10 over in a 70, so 80. You pull me over in this situation, you're simply being a fucking asshole. I'm not bothering anyone, I'm not being a danger to anyone, if I flip my car and die...well thats my problem, keep your [self censor) out of my personal life.

I don't weave around traffic like a moron (although I never see THOSE people pulled over), and I'm going with the flow of traffic on a daily basis. I'm not an aggressive driver, I'm just not gonna sit behind the guy going 15 under because he shouldn't be on the road, either.

BTW - How many rapes and murders do you think happen every year due to the lack of a patrol car because some cop is napping waiting for a fast car to fill his quota.

It's a common reaction. Most people, on seeing a police officer (or even a similar uniform), automatically go through a mental checklist of things they've done wrong lately.

Plus, you know... I speed, everywhere. I can't tell if it is because I can, or just because I have this primal urge to go fast, but I just do. Not usually more than five over in town, but sometimes as fast as 80 on the freeway...

Generally speaking, the only interaction I'm going to have with a cop is when I'm getting a ticket. I've never even gotten a ticket, but there's really no other time that I'm much going to interact with a man of the law. So yeah, when I see 'em, especially highway patrol, there's a moment of uneasiness or nervousness. It isn't because I dislike law enforcement, although lord knows that being law enforcement doesn't necessarily mean that a person's all that concerned with justice. It's just...when else am I really going to have reason to talk to a cop than when I've been doing something wrong, or (perhaps unknowingly) broken some kind of law? And there are a lot of laws--it's perfectly reasonable to worry, even if it's only for a moment, that you might not be in conformity with one of them.

Just a little. Been getting better each time. When in a car I check my speed (I keep drifting up and down in speed). If on foot I a void eye contact. Other then that I'm fine. They have better things to do then to check randoms (not like I have anything on me anyway).

i'm white, i'm male between the ages of 10-40 (22) i've been questioned several times by police, and never once was it for anything involving me, and a few we're "random"

mostly cuz i like a good trenchcoat, black is a nice colour to wear, and iunno, maybe they're jealous of the way i walk? XD hell, once got questioned about breaking windows at a school w/ a baseball bat, apparently, the guy was wearing a red t-shirt. i had a red toque, and my gf w/ me, the school was about 5k in the wrong direction, and we were on foot...yeeeeaaaahhh...don't they have REAL jobs to do?

I'm not so afraid of getting a speeding ticket but I'm always a little paranoid when a cop car is driving right behind you in traffic, or in front of you for that matter.
