If they can AT LEAST not act like homophobic assholes and at least have be respectful on the mic, then they can be a god damn 8 year old and I wouldn't mind.

I don't use a headset, nor do I really play many online games besides MMORPGs.

I'd say maturity is more important than age. I've met a 12 year old or two that were actually nice and not annoying, and I also work with a guy (19) who is not mature at all.

This is why I use party chat with my friends, play Gears of War over XBL, have a team of five people you know, make a party.

Problem solved.

Because I hate putting up with children, especially in games rated higher then their supposed to be playing. That always bugs me.

If the person is under the age restriction they should not be allowed to play the game never mind use voice chat. Every time I hear an eight year old playing a 17+ game and swearing like a sailor I think: "wow, those parents suck". This isn't to say kids should be banned from violent games, but interacting online with other much older than their peer group cannot be beneficial to them. If a young kid is going to play a game they really shouldn't be, thay could at least shut their prepubescent mouths.

The real question is: Who doesn't get annoyed?

I don't mind young gamers, we where all there at one point, but there is mature gamers and childish gamers. It won't matter how many years you have either, anyone can be childish. These people... well they will break a game so easily. There are many reasons as why, of course, but the annoying thing is... if they just stayed silent and slowly improved their abilities then no one would even know.

From the insane, annoying mic blabber right through the inability to stay out of crossfire or understand the basic mechanics of a game... and never forget the griefing when things don't go their way. Well it doesn't take much for them to destroy the fun of a game. The way they feel the need to annoy everyone else around them simply because they can't just find fun in the game itself always gets to me.

This is right, don't want to deal with young kids, do something like this there are way's around it but some of you can't be bothered and complain instead.

yep, that's basically half the problem. They can't be bothered doing it and thus get pissed off. It's a vicious cycle, but one that took years to perfect XD

I don't play games with mics. I have a few reasons for this:

1. I'm 13, so I'll get lots of people complaining about that. (Much like you.)
2. I'm a girl. 'Nuff said, I think.
3. Games like that scare me, as I'm always afraid of letting an otherwise great team of skilled, strategic players down because of my own idiocy.

To tell the truth, mics scare me. I've always wanted to play TF2, but I always see threads like this talking about how annoying 13 year olds are. I'm just not sure that I'm mature enough not to make a fool out of myself. And even if I am, who's to say that people aren't going to ***** about me using a mic anyway, simply because of my voice or my age? Yeah...I'm gonna have to wait until I'm not a scaredy-cat to try online multiplayer with mics out.

I understand the bitterness, though. People my age are often nasty, and that really gets to me. Come on! They misrepresent not only our age group, but gaming as a whole. I hate it, but what can I do? From my standpoint, the easiest and most logical way to avoid jerks, older and younger, is to avoid those games altogether.

I agree with everything said here, I'm sometimes afraid of playing online games without a mic because I know I'm mediocre but some people reckon this is bad and you never know what people will say! I understand that I'm bad, I just want to have fun! I don't need you ranting on my skill level when I'm trying to get better!

Well if there was a mic ban, then we'd just have a lot of 12-year old kids who say that they're older than 16, and the problem would go unresolved.

Are you kidding? I was about to quit MW2 when a 7 year old yelled "Collateral!!" It was the funniest thing I ever heard. I ended up playing for another few hours just because of that

Either I'm lucky or you're all lying because I've never had annoying whiney 12-year-olds on my teamspeak. Or it's just consoles that get it.
I haven't seen it since I started to play on pc instead.
Plus, you can just mute them and get it over with.
