Anyone else sort of sick of it? (PC and Consoles Topic)

I mean seriously? I am sick of people saying "They can't comprehend a person playing such and such genre on Consoles.?

Frankly it?s getting repetitive and annoying, since it comes up very often. Even though it?s not hard to comprehend at all. Now, while on most sites, its 360 vs. PS3, I noticed on Escapist it?s mainly, PC vs. Consoles in general.

While every side on their bad sides, I notice it?s lately PC gamers who are the ones who are aggressors. Trying a lot of the time to make them out to be superior beings and overall more intelligent than their Console brethren. When a sequel comes out, almost 90% of the time they will say its ?Dumbed Down for Console Gamers? like if their all stupid or something. Or it means the controller, which in some cases is just wrong since the controls of the first game worked with controller; it was developer?s choice to change things.

Now don?t get me wrong, I play PC Games all the time (even making my own Fallout: New Vegas Quest in GECK) and this isn?t all PC Gamers, just the vocal minority (or here sort of the Vocal Majority.)

But is anyone else sick of it?

They all have their own merit. Some people like pc gaming others like console gaming. I know why I prefer PC gaming. There is nothing more to be said.

It only gets annoying when -certain- PC gamers feel the need to talk as if a modern games console is some grubby little thing that people take down from their attic once in a while to sample the bitter delights of a game that their precious PCs dont have.

Apart from that. I dont mind having -fair- discussions about why people prefer certain platforms for gaming. I mean, how else will we all broaden our passion for the gaming industry.

PC gamers just need to tone it down a little thats all. Just because they're the suckers who pay silly amounts of money to throw together random bits of hardware in an attempt to make a -gaming console- only to spend half a day installing after spending more money on a game... ´

I play both consoles and PC and I don't really see a huge difference. The only reason I will get it on PC or console is mods or multiplayer, respectively.

Did you ever see problems resolved on the internets?
There will always be someone who hates something and lot's of factions to go at eachother simply because they like to fight.

And nothing short of genocide will ever fix that.

I can't really be bothered to analyse all the posts on this forum to see if there are more aggressive "I hate PC elitists" posts like yours or more "all console gamers are idiots" posts. Honestly I don't see either trend as being as bad or unbalanced as the previous Wii bashing trend.

well im only bothered when someone says there choice is 'best' when its entirely an issue of preference, PC can have better specs and all that, but if you prefer consoles then that is your choice and games are not dumbed down, they are made to work for there platform

It's a fact, that's all.
It's a rule of computing that everything doubles every 18 months.
At 6 years of age, a console released today would be MANY orders of magnitude more powerful than a PS3.

No such thing as a modern console.
The eighth generation is due, damnit.

Right now it's kind of a moot point. All the consoles are a few years old, and that has given the average PC time to catch up with them in hardware. Just about anything can be made cross platform now with very little changes. Fallout: New Vegas is a good example. It was released on PC, PS3 and Xbox, and was equally buggy as hell on each! The only games that are really console specific are major MMO's and stuff that is voluntarily so due to copyrights and developers choosing to be.

The whole topic comes off to me like people in a store arguing about whether they like vanilla, chocolate or strawberry ice cream better, when the only thing the store has is Neopolitan anyway.

It has nothing to do with intelligence, and everything to do with the controller. You say controls works, of course they do they have been dumb down, modern shooters don't have strafing, jumping, often can crouch rarely have more than a couple of weapon. All to fit the control scheme on a controller. I other games inventory management are a lot more annoying so a lot of game removes it. Games that uses a lot of ability often works in a weird way because the controller can't have a hot key for all of them. Don't tell me that all of this doesn't lead to a game dumbed down.
I hate that a lot of people instantly call you an elitist for pointing out these things
