Because we play MMOs for long enough to not be bothered and because content update in form of patches that often add whole new zones to grind at are still 'free'. See GW1 had no fee but pretty much every major change was in expansion you had to buy.Garak73 said:I just don't understand why more people don't complain about having to buy the game/expansions for full price whilst also paying a monthly subscription.
Most people can afford 60 bucks plus a sub.Garak73 said:I just don't understand why more people don't complain about having to buy the game/expansions for full price whilst also paying a monthly subscription.
WoW is good value for money. It's 8 pound for a game that will take you well beyond 1 month to complete, and it's enjoyable. I'd rather spend 8 pound playing WoW than spend 80 pound a month on games that can be completed in an afternoon. It obviously varies from person to person, but every game I've bought in the past year or so hasn't been worth the price I paid. I have so many games left incomplete because they're just boring, and I paid full price for them. I can't play on my Xbox for longer than an hour without getting incredibly bored, and in that time I'll switch games 5 times unless I'm speaking to friends. WoW though is different for me, I can play it all day. I don't, but there's always something to do and that appeals to me. 8 pound a month really isn't that much for what you're getting, and what you're potentially saving.Garak73 said:That most people can afford it isn't really the issue here. It seems like double charging to me. Maybe I would feel differently if I played it but from the outside looking in, it seems ridiculous.
I used to think like you, I have since bowed my head and admitted fault. The worth is there.Garak73 said:That most people can afford it isn't really the issue here. I, personally, don't play that much. I frequently have 3+ month breaks and I'm usually only subscribed for about 4/5 months total.Garak73 said:WOW is $180 per year plus expansions which run $30-$40 per year if an expansion is released that year.
So, $210-$220 a year for one game. Can you name any other game you would pay that much for per year?
Oh well, to each his own I was just saying that at $180 per person per year, there isn't any reason why expansions shouldn't be free (or $5 for a disc).
Quake busted the dam to hell and now some lil gang of murlocs gnolls and kobolds are in control...its mostly drained into Wetlands...NeutralDrow said:I certainly am.
Kinda nervous, too. There's a few places I like hanging out in-game for aesthetic reasons. I like the idea of Desolace becoming a paradise, but I hope nothing happens to Loch Modan...
