Anyone get REALLY excited for a game anymore? (2005-2010)

I'm talking about mega-uber-super excited for something. Just like you were in your childhood days. Is there any new games out there you were just DYING to play. And what was your verdict on the game?

I think the only game I anticipated that much was Smackdown vs Raw: Here comes the pain! I had heard about game, seen it being played in many stores, and had heard great things about it. It was one of the main reasons I bought a PS2, as I had been begging my parents for the PS2 for a LONG LONG time and I finally only got it when my elder brother decided that he could use one too. ( I was 11 and he was 22. This was 2005-ish). So, naturally the first game I bought was SVR:HCTP and boy, was I EXCITED. I played it 8 hours straight the first time I popped it in and played it constantly for maybe 2 months with friends.

Well, this depends...

Me and my brother, we used to play WoW a good time and have loads of fun. But we stopped playing it 2-3 years back.

If we decide it's worth getting back into, WoW Cataclysm will be one of my anticipating triggers of super-awesome.

Other than that, can't honestly say I am... But I was when I got The Burning Crusade, about 3 - 4 years back.

I got OBSESSED with Mass Effect 2. Funny, how I thought that Mass Effect 1 was only a pretty good game, not amazing, but pretty good. But yeah, I got obsessed. I followed everything about it, I preordered the collectors edition for 100 dollars(Though I used gift cards from birthday and ended up paying only 20 bucks), and I counted down the days. I even told my mom to call me when it arrived.

Usually, my obsessions don't work out so well, since I set my expections way too high. But I have to say, Mass Effect 2 actually met, and EXCEEDED, my expectations. One of my favorite games of all time.

I was giddy with excitement about Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, and TF2
I was so excited about tf2 because I heard of all the class updates. All i needed to do was save the money to buy a nice computer.
Loved all 3 of those games.

Only 3 games have ever made me that excited. Not normal excitement, child-like excitement where I get giddy just thinking about the prospect of playing them (yes, I know they're just video games, but still). Games where I had them pre-ordered months in advance, and followed every preview and bit of information on them. I even had dreams about playing them before they came out.

Those three games are Super Smash Bros Brawl, Modern Warfare 2 and Fallout 3. The first was a disappointment, the second was an extreme disappointment, and the third surpassed all of my completely unrealistic expectations.

Did you actually play Fallout 2? To my knowledge, I had no idea of the Fallout series before Fallout 3 came out.

So if you didn't play fallout 2 and still were child-like excited, then that's INSANE. Considering that excitement usually stems for sequels.

Halo 3.
Halo was my favorite shooter series up to that point, and once I got it, I spent a good year playing it religiously (compared to other games) with my friends.
I still play it more than any other Xbox game I own.

I was really hyped for Lost Planet 2 before it released now I play it all the time since its out. I love it.

After What happened to Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Silent Hill and Prince of Persia i try to not get hyped about games, take Red dead for example, I didn't care about the game during it's development, pre-ordered it like two days before release and wasn't excited to see it, i was not disappointed, not pleased but still prefer to be indifferent.

same exact thing here. i picked up mass effect 1 for 15 bucks used and thought it was a decent game once i played through, but i started following mass effect 2 and i was hooked, went to the midnight release, ended up playing through the night, into the day, and up until about 9 o clock at night before i crashed, hell i skipped class and only had one meal that day, i slaughtered the shit out of that game. it was well met and loved it, even if the planet scanning is a chore.

The day i bought it i had a group of us, around 12 of us, crammed in my tiny bed room lookign at a tiny TV laughing and taking turns every 24 minutes (Each passing day in GTA). Oh, i havnt been that excited for a game in a long time =[
