even though I,m not a bog fan of the "we are the world" policy of the US I would really like to see the Captain America movie.
Mostly for the part it,s in cannon with the Marvel movie universe.

I'm interested! Only because it looks cool, is set in WWII and is part of the Avengers.

I'm Korean and live in NZ.

I'd watch Captain America just to see how they posed him as. And it'd be pretty interesting to see how it all links up with the Avengers.

I live in Australia, and I actually am quite excited about it, but only if they stick to who Captain America is supposed to be. I.e. a more liberal, centre-left American superhero, not the super-patriotic, flag waving douchebag people seem to associate with the name. Also if they do make him accurately, then I'd love to see the reactions of the super-patriotic douchebags who go to see it expecting some sort of propaganda film.

I'm definitely going to watch the movie, because I watch all hero movies.

That said, being German, I can only sigh in irritation at the fact that this is actually coming out. Of course the Nazis richly deserve(d) getting smacked silly by... well, anyone, actually; however, I fear it's just these movies (or media in general) that perpetuate the idea of 'Germany = Naziland' in the minds of young, ideologically susceptible movie-goers, which makes me kind of sad.

Personally I don't care, but I didn't care about any other superhero movie which was released either so that's just me.

Wait WW2 movies are joyful stories where America wins all by themselves, because I would like to say The U.S. deserved a little bit of credit for doing a really crappy thing because we thought it had to be done, and it may have. The victory out side of Japan is never really credited to the U.S anyway.
I don't really like any country that much. I just think that Captain America is awesome because he fights nazis with a shield.
And its not like he'll kill Hitler.

Anyone non-american has no reason to feel the patriotism that Captain America is supposed to represent. That's my theory anyways. (Sweden)

I never liked him.

I'll still watch the movie though.
I don't like Superman either for what it's worth. All of those figure head heroes are kinda boring and never interested me.
I was always more a fan of the "cool guy" heroes and the "nerd becomes hero" heroes. Cool guy because I wanted to be a super cool guy and nerd heroes because I was a nerd.
Cap is a nerd that becomes a hero.
He is too. Well there is an oversight on my part.

Maybe I just didn't like him as a kid because my brother and older cousins weren't into him.

I'm Belgian and looking forward to it. It looks like a fun action flick, and there's a Stark in it so I'm expecting snark. ;D

You know what? I'm 18, so I'm pretty young, and when I hear things like "German = Nazi", I remember one quote, I think it's from some movie or something: "The first to suffer from Nazis were Germans". I think that it takes lots of stupidity to automatically assume "Nazis = Germans". It's even more stupid than to assume "Russians = Communists", I mean, come on.
Indeed. However, it also takes a lot of stupidity to imagine the average German as a lederhosen-wearing, sauerkraut-munching Bavarian with a funny accent, but according to several of my university teachers who hail from the US, that's the mental image conjured up by the average American citizen.
By the way, by "young" I was thinking more along the lines of 11-15; I believe most 18-year-olds are quite capable of critical reflection on these matters. I've read that quote you mentioned a while ago, too, but also can't remember where it's from... whatever the source, it rings true. How very unfortunate that the rest of the world then had to suffer as well. :(

I think most people outside of the USA don't really care about American comic book characters.
AFAIK most Europeans were raised on Franco-Belgian comics. (Asterix, Lucky Luke, Tintin)
If by 'European' you mean France and Belgium.
I'm from Germany and I've got most Asterix and Lucky Luke books and my older brother has a large collection of Tintin books. No kid from my generation ever read a Batman or Spiderman comic.
The Asterix books have been translated into 100 languages, 9 animated movies and 4 live action movies... they are pretty popular over here.
I've heard of Asterix, and I'm not saying it's not popular... in certain parts of Europe.
But you're crazy if you think "no kid from your generation" ever read Batman or Spiderman comics (whatever you meant by that). I'm from Ireland, so I get exposed to plenty of European culture, and I know a bunch of people with an encyclopedic knowledge of American comics (DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, etc.) especially in college (where the comic nerds no longer live in fear of ridicule).

In summation: you =/= Europe.
