APB anyone played it yet?

I loved it. Great fun. For those with problems over steam, download it from the APB website, copy folders from Program Files/Realtime Worlds into steamapps/common/apb (EU/NA), sorted. The steam version misses a few files, it's just an easy fix.


An Escapist clan would be quite fun, I'll expect to see a lot of you playing on pre-release day.

Like the game, shame about the subscription, I'm very willing to pay subscription for worthy games, but this is a 50v50 instanced TPS where the biggest fights you have are 10v10, but usually 2v2-4v4.

Apparently, things can go more crazy than 10v10, the APB forums have a few claims of 12v14 etc, and one claim of 20v20. We'll see what the full game is like.

When will people learn to use the names of the thing they're making a thread about instead of the abbreviations? This is starting to become a nuisance.

On topic: I am interested in All Points Bulletin, but I don't think I want to buy it for the time being. Got too many other things to spend money on, and enough games to play.

I played it for about 2 or 3 hours back when Key to the City started. It was okay, but it got boring quick. Also the gameplay reminded me too much of GTA, and for me, that wasn't a good thing.

I was a member of the closed beta, started playing it back in March. I honestly would not recommend buying it. When they took the beta servers down on June 6th, they did not have a finished game. The weapons were unbalanced, the matchmaking was broken, and the character customization was somewhat limited, though enjoyable.
The Public Test Realm build is somewhat better, but the game is still more frustrating than fun.

I did my 15 hours then got handed another 5. I'm finding it quite fun and often hilarious. The adrenaline rush when the banner comes up announcing that everyone is after you is something else. Only thing to do is steal a car, pick up a cohort for protection and drive as fast as you can. I'm playing a criminal, my first time doing that. I figured an honest criminal was better than a crooked cop, or something. I wouldn't mind a bit of a breather where I can actually figure out where to get a better gun than the default one, but everytime those sirens go off, I gotta run.

The character development is pretty bad so far in my opinion. Clothes are downright ugly to me, only sneakers for women (I wants me some boots), hairstyles really suck. I picked an afro at first which actually looked pretty cool, but during gunfights I couldn't see around it. And don't bother picking an age for your character - they all look like old ex-junkies. And especially at first I don't think it's fair to make us pay game money to change hair color or style. Guess my girl is showing.

I don't know if I'll be buying it though. It's more a matter of free time and efficient use of my money, but it's been fun playing the beta and I'll definitely use my remaining 5 hours.

Oh sure, it's hilarious when you think about it, but some guys take this a bit too seriously. This game is made to be taken lightheartedly, but some people are just being bitchy. And no, I have never once bitched or moaned. I laugh and mutter a curse.

Heh, yeah. I'm the same, when shit happens I just shrug and laugh it off. No point getting upset, it's just a game.

As for the accidentally killing your team mates thing, don't worry, you're not alone.
It's just so tempting when you're driving to the scene of the action at high speed to just try and run the enemies over while their backs are turned. It often works too. Unfortunately your teammates don't always see you coming either. xD

The funniest kill I got with a car was when me and a teammate were chasing 2 crims with a bounty by car. We were running out of time, but we only needed 2 more kills and we were right behind them. Suddenly they hit the brakes, made a 180 turn and tried to go down an exit ramp. Instead of following behind I aimed straight for the exit ramp, hoping I'd land in front of their car, cutting off their escape.

It turned out even better because the crim driver unexpectedly jumped out of the car mid-drive...only to be promptly squished by my car landing right on top of him.
I was still laughing at the absurdity of it while my partner chased down the other crim who'd also jumped out and ran the other way. With about 30 seconds left on the clock we nailed them both lol. I still can't understand why the guy decided to abandon his car at such an awkward moment...

So yeah I thought it was good fun, preordered, will be playing on the EU servers. Lag and performance were pretty good in the kttc, can't comment on beta, as I wasn't in it. Balance issues seem minor enough that they're not squashing my fun, which is really all I care about. If it's fun I'll happily pay for it, and with the monthly subscription at 8.99 it sure is a damn sight cheaper than what I'm used to with MMO's (12.99 for lotro and CO, 14.99 for eve).
