So hey guys. There's a Nintendo Direct going on right now.

And we got our first small trailer for SMTxFE, though I didn't see a whole lot related to either franchise (that was immediately distinguishable, anyways). Kind of odd, but cool to see the first sign of footage.

For people who like Fatal Frame...the newest one is getting localized, apparently. So anyone disillusioned with the fact that a Fatal Frame game hasn't been localized in god knows how long? You're finally getting one! HOORAY!

Anybody else watching right now? Or excited about anything being announced in particular?

Quick edits: Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains is coming in May to the eShop. Marth Amiibos are apparently going to get a lot more production, for anybody who's worried about those. The new Fire Emblem will retain the custom character feature, but your character will apparently be the 'main character' of the story, rather than something of an accomplice to the 'real' heroes of the story. Additionally, it appears to have a morality system of some sort. Or perhaps just two branching story paths around two different sides: Hoshido and Nohr. Seems to be a sort of East/West conflict sort of deal, with one focusing on peace and one on loyalty? Interesting, in any case.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is a thing. It also has cards that interact with the game. I'm not sure how to feel about it. It's apparently focused on the home design parts of Animal Crossing rather than the chore-y aspects of the game. But the footage just seems like they cut out a piece of Animal Crossing and decided to make it a new game with maybe a couple differences.

Oddly enough the thing I am most excited for now was the DLC and 200cc mode in MK8. The courses aren't really designed around it so it will give the courses a real challenge.

oh, fuck you, Kibayashi, you're setting me up for an emotional gut punch in this game, aren't you? Both of the little sisters are adorable and the rest of the siblings clearly love the protagonist. Hoo-boy, that decision is going leave some people emotionally wrecked if they pull this off and could bring a truly heart-wrenching and emotional tale to the series. That's some serious stuff; only being able to choose one family, leaving behind and perhaps even outright betraying them. The people who raised you and regard you as family in spite of being a foreigner or the ones who are of your blood and still love you despite being raised by another nation. I haven't seen a moral choice of that magnitude since Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Man, I'm gonna have to think about which side to pick

So the little kawii girl in me really came out during this direct.

I loved the Animal Crossing announcements, including the new game (though I wish it was DLC for New Leaf), amiibo cards, and the new track/cars/characters for Mario Kart 8. It made me realize how much I just really, really like the series and how just everything about it makes me go "awww".

I actually tuned in a little late to the broadcast, so I didn't see the yarn Yoshi until now, but that looks good enough that I'd probably want to get one for myself. I'm not a fan of most Amiibos or little plushies but that one looks decent enough to be worth the purchase.

Very excited for the new Fire Emblem myself, especially considering the fact that your character is going to be the main head honcho and not just a sidekick of sorts to the rest of the heroes.

Yeah, I agree with that. I would have preferred a new main series game (obviously) or as I said just DLC for New Leaf seeing as it is a pain to get a villager's home to look a certain way. Still, depending on the price, I like the idea of it and will pick it up. Plus, I like the villagers in Animal Crossing, they are kinda like "Pokemon" to me. I want to collect all of those amiibo cards because I like the characters. For example, Goose the chicken is one of my favs and doesn't show up in a lot of Animal Crossing related media so it was kinda cool seeing his card in the Direct.

I don't know, I'm pretty much a sucker for this kind of stuff.

Oh cool, the Splatoon amiibos can be purchased in a 3-pack! Sounds pretty good to me. I also am not ashamed to admit that yes, I'm gonna get all of the Yarn Yoshi amiibos...just...damn.

Fire Emblem and, SMT X FE both look great and I can't wait for them to launch. I love how they seem to imply that the Nohr are the evil faction in Fire Emblem 3DS but after that, they do nothing but highlight things that interest me and ensure my first playthrough will be a Nohr playthrough. Sorry Hoshido...

FATAL FRAME! IT'S COMING! YES!!!

Oh boy, 2 new consoles are being supported on the Wii U's VC. Hopefully now they're going to launch more than one VC game per week. I love how much you can tweek the N64 controls though.

I can't wait to get Mewtwo but I've never cared about Lucas...I DO however love the idea of stuffing a virtual voting box with votes for characters like King K Rool and, Daisy.

Happy Home Designer isn't for me.

Octodad! I don't have to wait until I get a PS4 this fall to play it!!! Bit Blox (I think) looks adorable and, Somethign-Pip looks like it wants to be this year's Shovel Knight...but it won't be. Mutant Mudds Super Challenge or whatever doesn't appeal to me...but it has crossbuy...and a discount since I own the original...damn.

I hope the Amiibo cards are something they bring to other games and characters as an alternate to the figures. I really dig how Amiibo has been implemented, I would even like Nintendo figures. I just like my figures in the $100+ range, my small elements of non-essential game add-ons in the sub $5 range and both those things to be separate. Yarn Yoshi is adorable though.

Wow, this thread seems to be the only thread that actually likes the SMT X FE. Everywhere else just HATES it.

OT: Was a very solid Direct. Do think that Happy Home Designer and Mii Exclusive Plaza were weak reveals. Loved the two Fire Emblem games and am very happy to see Fatal Frame getting a western release. This direct did seem a bit more eastern centric, though. I'm guessing its to make its E3 more "worldwide" in comparison.

There's going to be a third path as DLC. Probably allow you to pick either the "unite them" or "kill them all" path.

Fatal Frame is going to get a localized release. That's great, this game is one of the reasons I bought a Wii U.

For Fire Emblem, it looks like this game in Japan will in 2 versions (one for each side) and if you bought one version the other can be downloaded as paid DLC. Same as the "third path". So my guess it we won't see the other paths unless we fork up the cash.

Finally we got a brief trailer of FExSMT. I've been waiting for ANY news of this game since it was first announced in 2013.

Yarn Yoshi is so cute....I wonder if I will be able to get them in my country since we don't have an official Nintendo distributor here. Even the somewhat uncommon amiibo is nonexistent here, much less the rare ones. I hope the amiibo cards will be available for all existing amiibos soon at a cheaper price so I don't have to be at the mercy of scalpers.

That was...I have no idea what that was! I'd think it was a cool came if it wasn't being sold on being the combination of two franchises it seems to have very few elements of!

I think it's more of a 'wait and see' deal on this one. It's got the character hp windows stacked up vertically similarly to Persona, and I did notice some kind of grid during the stream that seemed to imply the turn-based strategy of FE. I was hoping for a bit of a darker direction, though. But I'm a sucker for grimdark stuff. Nocturne crossed with a rather darker FE style would be really cool. But I'm not sure how appealing that would be to others.

I have no doubts it'll be at least a pretty good game. Atlus isn't typically one to disappoint that much.

On another note (since I forgot to mention it in my initial post and really need to get this off of my chest) I am genuinely excited for the new Mii Plaza games. I'm not so big on the zombie game because...well...look at it, it's another Zombie game. It looks like an E10 twin-stick Zombie killing game which is novel in its innocence. No, what I'm really excited for is the fishing game. No joke, I have a really weird sort of affinity with fishing games. I'm kinda disappointed that Sega hasn't launched a new fishing game in so long...unless I've just been missing them...
