"Yeah, you probably are taking it a bit fast," Gabriel answered Susan with a short laugh. "I mean, we hardly know one another. We can't really expect to start a band with that level of acquaintance, let alone expect it to succeed." To give his fingers something to do, and because he had the song stuck in his head for some reason, he began tapping out the lead guitar line to Iron Maiden's Run To The Hills on the side of his glass. He knew the song well; owning a copy of the tabs and having the music on his iPod helped with that.

"Oh yeah, jeez. Top shelf of the closet? Perfect spot. Hid my booze from my parents up there for months," Anya said "But yeah, I dunno, hopefully the guy putting this party on has a little bit as well. Two thirds of this stuff is made for mixing, so it would be nice if there were more options there."

She grabbed a chair she had spotted in the room and brought it over to where the conversation was taking place, sitting down on it. "So...what else are you into Connor? You know, besides alcohol and loud music?"

"Ehehe, yeah. Well, it isn't entirely impossible. Perhaps once we get to know each other better, it might be possible. For now, we should just focus on studying and having fun." Susan giggled a little. She tended to think a bit into the future sometimes, which in the past disappointed her a few times when it didn't happen. Nonetheless, she always kept her optimism, and was sure it would work. And this was no exception. Still, she thought, it would be better if she got to know them better before thinking like that.

"I've never heard or seen anyone play the banjo, though I know about the instrument and what it looks like. It'd be rather interesting to hear it being played." she said to Lance, showing a bit of interest.

"Nate that's the difference between us," Josh said laughing, "I don't take balls to the face to get money," chuckling at his own lame joke he got serious, "So you guys wanna head over to my dorm soon, people are bound to show up soon."

He motioned at the door, "Shall we?"

"I'm not good at cooking, but dishes I can do easily. You cook, I clean. That could be a good system for us in the coming year, I think."

She sat down on the chair her coat was on, and watched Micah get various thins out that he needed to cook. "Lamb? Wow, that sounds fantastic! I haven't had lamb since before I moved to the US. I don't mean to sound, uh, creepy, but I think we will be great friends in the coming months, Micah."

Tori shook her head at Josh's lame joke,

"Couldn't pass that one up eh Josh? Hey are you going to be providing all the booze? I wont exactly have enough time to go buy some..." Tori wouldn't have minded buying some booze if she had more time, "If you need some more I can run and grab some."

"Tori, Tori, Tori," Josh shook his head, "What am I going to do with my money, invest it? Booze is free tonight. I have rum, vodka, tequila, beer, coolers, you name it I've already smuggled it in.'

"Hah of course you have Josh. And investing the money would be ridiculous! This is college after all, the time in life to make stupid decisions and drink a lot!" laughing, Tori headed toward the door, her and Nate still had their arms around each other. Turning around she looked at Trisha, "You coming? We can work out sleeping and all that stuff afterwords, I haven't been to a good party in a while so I could use a drink."

Trisha smiled looking over at the three friends walking over closer to them all before grabbing her purse. The look on her face really just full of interest. She could tell these kids knew each other pretty well and that amusement must follow them around quite a bit. Made her wonder what other type of people they would attract. "Of course, a little tasteful drinking should be good before going to that first party if even."

"That's what I like to hear," Nate said to Trisha with a chuckle. As he and Tori moved out of the crowded room and into the hallway, he leaned over and planted a quick kiss on her temple.

"So how have you been?" he asked, running a free hand through his hair. "Haven't seen you in almost, what... a week? And listen- I'm sorry about that, really. I've just been busy."

"I've been fine, getting ready for college and stuff, been pretty busy actually, I barely noticed your absence." winking at Nate, Tori leaned in and kissed him lightly on the lips. Rubbing her hand on his shoulder she smiled, "Don't apologize, I know you've been busy. Besides, not seeing you only makes me want to see you even more. And given how awesome I am, that's a good think for you."

Tori chuckled, while her cockiness was in jest, her longing to see Nate was very much real. She fully enjoyed every moment she spent with him, even silently watching a movie together or watching Nate play sports.

"You're right, Susan. We should focus on our studies first and have fun later. But speaking of fun.. Are any of you going to the freshman party that they're having? I read the flier and it seemed kinda fun.."

Claudette, despite not being a fan of parties, actually wanted to go to the freshman bash. It was a sober party, though she knew that plenty of people would bring alcohol, and it would let her meet even more people.

"I'm sure he's got a plan. Hopefully he's not stupid enough to call a drinking party without having drinks on hand. He'd get very unpopular very quickly."

Connor waited as she fetched a chair for herself, electing to simply lean against the counter. "Well, I produce music as a hobby. Some sketching and other art sometimes. Men. I go out to rave parties pretty often, but that kinda fits into the 'alcohol and loud music' category. Umm, not sure what else is noteworthy."

He kept a straight face as he slipped 'men' into the middle of his interests. College life had taught him to be very casual about his sexuality, and that it was better to get it out of the way quickly with new people. He found that if he didn't make a big deal out of it, most other people wouldn't.

"I'm not sure if I'll go. Never been much for parties, alcoholic or non-alcoholic. But I might go if you drag me there." Susan giggled at the thought of them dragging her to the party. "I don't drink myself, so it doesn't bother me that it's non-alcoholic." She'd never drunk a drop of alcohol herself. Was never interested in it, really. Never saw the appeal.

So he an artist, that's good....wait what? Men? He's gay?...Ah, its probably for the best I guess. What did Kevin always say? Don't shit where you sleep? I think that's probably very applicable for roommates. Besides, this means he can help me pick out clothes and stuff. Always a plus. This could still work. And who knows? Maybe if he brings a cute guy home, I can convince him to play both ways like I do. Lots of possibilities.

Anya looked as though lost in thought for a second there, not moving or even blinking after Connor had finished talking. Once she snapped out of her self-imposed trance, she was quick to show that she had no problem with Connor's lifestyle.

"Oh yeah, that's cool, wouldn't mind seeing some of your art sometime, I can't draw for anything. Never was really pushed into art. But um, me, yeah, I like the standard stuff; music or most types, as long as its not something stupid like country or something. I enjoy partying, I'm a very social person, you know? Very...social. I can sing pretty well, I wanted to try out for American Idol, but what's the point now, right? So downhill. And I really like comedy movies, all kinds, especially the British kind. Like Russell Brand, he is so hilarious!"

She realized she was going a bit too fast at this point and decided to dial it back a bit. "Um...so, when did you want to head to this party?"

"No kidding?" Micah said with a smile when Kiska said that she hadn't had lamb since moving to the US. "You and I are going to get along well. Especially when you've got an epicurean like me as a room-mate."

Micah pulled a kitchen knife from the block on the counter, and opened the package of lamb sausages. He took out a few, and made small slits in the casing before going over to the other side of the counter. He filled the pot full of water from the sink, and set in on the stove to boil.

"I guess this dish is a bit like a beef stroganoff, but with lamb instead of beef, and not quite as creamy, so you can taste some of the more subtle flavors. I hope you like it."

"That sounds so amazing. You really seem to know what you're doing." Kiska looked on in awe of what Micah was cooking. The thought of the meal she was about to have made her mouth water.
"I feel foolish for not knowing this, but is cooking what you are going into? I mean, what's your field of study here?"

Connor smiled and nodded as she went on a bit of a spiel. He didn't mind at all, it probably told him just as much about her as what she was actually talking about. And even better, she didn't react negatively to him being gay. And he knew she had noticed, because she'd gotten that glazed look in her eyes for a second.

"Well, we can leave any time I guess." he said, "The text didn't say any time, I think it just said 'come to this dorm'. Are you ready to go?"

"Give me one sec," came the reply as Anya walked into the bathroom. She got to the mirror and went over a quick check of everything. Her shirt was on fine, the Anberlin logo hanging just off her chest. Straps were good. She ran her hands over her hair for a second, making sure the bangs were in place and her ponytail wasn't crooked. Yep, she looked set to rock this party.

She came back out to the common room. "Yep, I'm all set."

"I'm a Psychology Major..." Micah answered his room-mate as he started prepping the ingredients for their lunch. "I'm probably going to go into Childhood and Adolescent Psychology, since I like kids so much. Plus, I like being able to help people, and childhood and adolescence is a time of life that kids need help. I wanna be able to help them with any issues they might have, before it affects them negatively."

Micah began to chop a little garlic, and some onion, as well as some various herbs, including a bit of mint, to go well with the lamb.

"What about you, Kiska?" Micah asked the girl. "What's your field of study?"
