"I might go, though I'll probably just hover around on the edges of the action, or avoid people by sitting in a corner or somewhere else relatively secluded," Gabriel answered Claudette with an apologetic shrug. "I don't really do parties that well. I guess it comes with not having many friends in high-school..." He fell silent, thinking back on his limited social life. Having much preferred studies to socialising, that was one of the reasons why Gabriel had been picked on in his teenage years. Looking back on that, he made a snap resolution: to break out of the shell that high-school had put him in. Mix the student with the socialite. And a dash of nerd as well. The perfect recipe, he thought with a smile, remembering the video games installed on his laptop, and one particular pack of cards in a suitcase.
"Ah, heck with it, I'm gonna go to the party," he declared. "Might as well, right? Beats hanging around here with little else to do if everyone else is going."
